I guess it all a matter of taste. To me, a minimal, straightforward ad that showcases the product itself, stands above one which has a bunch of people making faces at the camera, or a couple half-naked big-breasted women running in slow motion.

I agree. I didn't get the Samsung Commercial and it took the entire commercial, which was on the long side IMO, for me to even understand what they were getting at. All I heard was "The next big thing" the entire commercial. For someone who didn't know you would think they were announcing a brand new product or something.

Where I was watching the Super Bowl, they work at an Advertising Agency who actually had to write down their favorite and worst adds that night and present them in a meeting the next morning for some research. Well from what I heard, the Samsung Commercial made it onto the "one of the worst" list in that meeting by multiple people and no one chose it as one of their favorites.

I'm not saying Apples ad's have been that great lately, they haven't been as great as they used to be. Though they do the job. They don't make you guess like the Samsung Superbowl Commercial nor the Microsoft Surface commercial (ok, I get it, it has a kickstand that makes some kind of noise!).

I'd like to ADD my 2 cents to this thread about the new Apple ADs.

Anybody know the names of the two alphabet/word learning apps?

1. In the first ad we can see the word EXERCISE.

2. In the 2nd ad we can see the letter "L" for light.

Thanks.

I don't like these ads.

All these random people are screaming words at me.

Sounds like WHEEL OF FORTUNE!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the voice is annoying to us, but I can see how it would be effective advertising towards others. It's like how I hate the "audience" laughter in comedy TV shows (especially Big Bang Theory, which I can't even watch), but it seems like most people like it or don't care since almost every comedy TV show has it.

Great strategy.
— Hit Android/Windows8 RT where it really hurts (lack of tablet optimized software).

Fine execution.
— I do find the choir a little annoying though. I like the energy / excitement, but, like I said, it's a little annoying. I like that they are focused on creation / creativity / education but I'm missing some games. I think that's important to a lot of people — and games look cool in adverts (pretty sure there will be more ads in this series though).

Overall I like these ads. : )

To do this, they could have also said that the 64GB version gives you 58GB or whatever it is after formatting and OS, not 30GB like on the Surface. :p

I can't find info on this anywhere; does this thing have a fan? I know one of the MS tablets does, but I don't know which one.

That would be important if Surface did not support SD cards which solves any potential problems leaving iOS in a dust.

Meh, these ads are just ok. There is a segment of the population that is actively looking for reasons to as to why they don't like apple. My guess is that they would find these ads elitist, education biased, and unnaturally exuberant. The dancing ipod shadows, the i'm a PC/Mac commercials, etc. all had this elitism problem.

The "Here's to the crazy ones" commercial and the 1984 commercial appealed to elitists AND individualists, so there's common ground there for everyone to like.

I'd like to see apple take some risks in the ad department. Steve's not there to say no anymore, but there's gotta be someone with some taste in that boardroom, because it's probably not Tim. (which is scary)

I like the google commercials, and the samsung ones, and i like Tim.

This is still my favorite iPad ad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2BvVcSkNkA&sns=em

If people didn't look closely, i could swear thats an iPad 3 easily..

Apart from the screen, the only thing different is the dock connector, which they don't show.

The way they scream out like that reminds me of the old Sesame Street days
It actually reminds me of one of the songs that won a Grammy last Sunday and was performed on the show. So somebody likes being yelled at.

The visual is good.
Just the soundtrack, especially with the bit where it says live! Fun! etc,
It's a bit cheesy for me. They should just play a catchy tune as the background soundtrack without the yelling titles
