The '1' will be when Tim Cook is presenting, Steve calls him from home, Tim reaches in his pocket and pulls out the brand new redesigned iPhone 5, and Steve introduces it through FaceTime.

I need a new and exciting hobby to keep me busy for the next 36 hours, straight. I wish I were 13 again. I'd have just the right hobby in mind, too.

Fap, fap, fap?

Hidden code in the invitation?

There are numbers on each icon. Perhaps they have some meaning?

4, 10(o' clock), 280, 1

What could they mean??

4 + 10 + 280 + 1 = 295 --> i.e. N95, possible model number for iPhone 5?!

That's quite smart actually! I just noticed that. But the iPhone map icon has always said 280, the event is on the 4th at 10:00, so unless Apple has been prepping this since the original iPhone, it's not the case. But if they have... (Which I unfortunately doubt) they will probably have something HUGE in mind

Good idea. Wish it was true, but I think Mr. Jobs just wants a nice, quiet retirement. Unfortunately, I think the iPad 2 announcement was his last. It would be nice if he did what you sid though.

I just can't wait for the new phone, my 3GS is about to hold it's last breath

The map most certainly does mean something. The stuff on the Maps icon is not just random roads and a number, it is the actual (simplified) layout of Apple's campus. 280 is Interstate 280, which runs through Cupertino right by Apple HQ. Hence the Maps icon on the invitation tells us where the event is.

Right. But it's important to note that that's the standard Maps icon and has been for a while. Check the iPhone.

I wish I'd feel more about the forthcoming hardware, but I feel more excited to finally get iOS 5 for my iPhone and iPad than seeeing the iPhone 4S unveiled. I don't really think there'll be more about iPhone 5 than at best a sneak peek for a release early next year. If it's coming tomorrow too, Apple has done a hell of a job of keeping it secret, and for some curious reason, a much better job than keeping the 4S hints secret. Rumors have basically all been about the 4S so far, except that early design thing.

Features come and go. Infrastructure lasts.

I'm mid-cycle in my AT&T contract with my iPhone 4, so I'm on track for the 2012 iPhone. Still a little jealous of everyone who will be getting an iPhone 4S and/or iPhone 5 (and/or iPod touch 3G) this month.

But all-new hardware or not, I think there are only two or three things that we'll remember about Apple's announcement years from now. Not processor specs or enclosure design or notification improvements.

First: PC Free because it will finally allow iOS devices to enter be post-PC era. And iCloud because it paves the way for Apple's next decade of innovation, the way iTunes did way back in 2001. And maybe Assistant, if it's really that much better than Voice Control.

I think "Let's talk iPhone" means that Assistant will probably take up a lot of time on Tuesday's presentation. Looking forward to it. But the infrastructure announcements are probably going to be far more important in the long run.

Right. But it's important to note that that's the standard Maps icon and has been for a while. Check the iPhone.

Important to note what? It is just saying that it's at the apple campus rather than at another convention centre, and they thought that was clever to use the existing icon.

Why did the original icon have the pin on infinity loop? Because it just made sense, otherwise there would have been dozens of threads and theories if it was just chosen at random, by fools trying to attribute meaning where the is none.

Missed call ;)

Yes, it is warning us that the new phone will have the same reception issues as the iPhone 4 and we will miss calls at random.

Someone should go in and FaceTime to the MacRumors website, and they stream it. Someone tell them!! I want to see, not just read tweets.
