The guy was at a car show, NOT at a company event or representing Apple and he was quoting a movie?

I dont get why people give a ****.
He said it was his job, which, movie quote or not, points back to his employer. This got circulated among the suppliers he negotiated with and people who worked under him and those people absolutely do give a ****.

Folks need to understand that Procurement guys are a different breed. They live in a cutthroat world that in many ways is insulated from most other corporate functions. They get paid to be unrelenting, even ruthless, in dealing with suppliers. In a lot of ways its like the military. There are not a lot of niceties in procurement. It’s eat or be eaten. Tony was very good at it, hence his nickname Blevinator. Tony was a trusted exec who went way back with Tim Cook and Jeff Williams when the three of them were with IBM‘s PC Company. It is sad to see this mistake cost him so much, especially as he made a poor attempt at humor. But how many of us at some time in our lives have not made the same kind of off-the-cuff blunder, especially after maybe having a drink or two or having a person with an agenda try to get a rise out of you? I am sure that Cook and Williams hated to fire him, but given the current cultural ethos and the employee environment at Apple, they really did not have any choice. Sadly, this is the world we live in. It’s good to be retired.

Just because they fired him from his public executive position doesn’t mean they won’t turn around and hire him as a private consultant.

Off-brand for Apple? Corporations are all the same. To save a nickel they'd allow their workers to work in an unsafe environment. Don't kid yourself, Apple, too.
The company I work for is not nearly as uptight. I'd probably get at least one warning.

Good God some people here are ridiculous. Who did this comment harm? No one that's who. Sure it's crude but he paraphrased a movie and lost an entire career in the process and people here act like that's a just response.

This fake outrage (and yes, everyone angry at this I consider to have fake outrage since it doesn't affect you in the slightest) on social media is out of hand. No one is perfect, a simple apology over this should have sufficed.
