theres another real simple solution to this problem since the op thinks the hotel is blocking apple products and he claims to need the internet for work.

actually 3 simple solutions.....

1. follow the advice posted prior.

2. change hotels and if the mac works there never stay at that hotel or any hotels run by that company.

3. buy and activate a 3g usb modem from the local cell company, get unlimited usage and use that.

1. follow the advice posted prior. I have and still the login page does not load up and I have asked for specifics on how to toggle with the DNS settings on my iPad.

2. change hotels and if the mac works there never stay at that hotel or any hotels run by that company. I mentioned that the hotel is in Thailand but failed to mention that it is in a remote area where there are limited number of hotels and the general standard is fairly low in comparison to this hotel, where the only problem is the internet connectivity, everything else is perfect.

3. buy and activate a 3g usb modem from the local cell company, get unlimited usage and use that. There is no 3g connectivity, and the signal quality is poor.

I don't understand the hostility brewed up in this post, it is a strange problem and I appreciate that is frustrating.

I am trying my upmost to resolve this and would really appreciate some help on how to get my iPad to connect to their internet, I really don't want to continue to use Windows.

Help much appreciated.

OK, well since it works with windows and different browsers we have ruled out both browsers and hardware. And since you get an IP assigned when in OS X you get connection, the problem lies elsewhere.

You don't use glimmerblocker or other http-proxys or an alternative DNS. Make sure all your settings in airport -> advanced is set to automatic

Make sure that you are connected to the right Wifi by checking your airporticon.

You could also activate your guestaccount under accounts - users and try there to eliminate anything installed on your user that can cause trouble...

If nothing else works then it's time to haul out the rubber-chicken and start woodoo :D:eek:

How do i go about making the login screen load up on my iPad & iPhone? The problem that occurs on my Macbook Pro is the exact same on my iPad & iPhone.

Help appreciated.

Yes I have enabled developer mode and selected IE but again the login page does not load up and I have tried with different browsers including Chrome.

In Windows, I have tried with firefox, IE, Safari and they all load up the login page fine.

This problem is the same throughout all my Apple devices, that's why I am thinking the admin has purposelessly blocked Apple devices for reasons I don't understand. (Who by the way is blaming compatibility problems with the Apple devices).

Some of you are suggesting that I change the DNS settings, how do i go about doing this on my iPad without the help of the admin?

Help much appreciated.

First and foremost, as has been said before. The way you block "Apple" devices is with a MAC Address, however, if you use windows on your laptop, you have the SAME MAC ADDRESS, SO THEY ARE NOT BLOCKING APPLE PRODUCTS, PLAIN AND SIMPLE, QUIT THINKING THAT...IT WILL MAKE HELPING YOU ALOT EASIER

Go to system pref, accounts and enable a guest account and give it a password. Go to the name in the upper right hand corner and select "login window" then login as the guest and try to access to wireless with a "Virgin" set of network preferences. If that works, you have something in your network prefs or startup programs that doesn't work with the hotel.

Let us know how that works for you......
