Apple products no longer hold their resale value?

One slip and drop of an iDevice and it's all over... Stupid people. Think about what is really important!

I think it holds it value.

Just depends on if theirs a buyer. Also the market is flooded with options.

It's not 2006 like with Sony Playstation where you can buy it and because the supply vs demand before xmas causes you to be able to rip people off.

Who would pay more money then retail for a used phone. 3 days or 1 day... it's used so you wont get your money back.

With massive popularity comes a larger supply of product for resale and lower resale prices. Add to that a more frequent refresh schedule. Simple economics.

I guess it depends on which area you live in. I just sold my iPhone 5 16gb AT&T on the bay for $800. I could have gotten more but wanted to sell it fast as I just got the 32gb iPhone 5 and don't need this one. I realized the iphone 5 for Sprint sells for a good amount less than the AT&T or Verizon version. It's simple supply and demand. iPhone 5 is almost impossible to get anywhere so people are willing to pay a premium instead of waiting weeks. Once you can get them in stores easily, prices will adjust.

I haut traded in my 4S to gazelle for about $272. Sounds fine to me. With all the use I got out of it I think it's fair. That's what you have to remember too.

Do you really thinks Map is minor issue???

I think it is. Outside of this site and media the innumerable people i know that have iDevices have never mentioned it. More...like...huh new maps? ok whatever.

I just navigated from my house over the border to Canada, through two canadian construction zones without a problem using Apple maps. I have never had more than a minor variance between the results of the map and reality and to be straight, i have had many of those on my Android phone with Google too. I'm talking real minor like it says i am the destination but it is actually about 500 yards down the block.

iPhone5 prices quickly depreciating.... Can only sell my phone for $650 now from craigslist

I disagree. Apple products still hold their value to a point. It's all relative at the end of the day. In general non Apple products depreciate more and a lot quicker so you get a lot more back when selling Apple products.

Apple products no longer hold their resale values because one can no longer sell an used product for ABOVE retail. Makes perfect sense to me!

Im willing to bet all these people are also only upgrading their phones and trying to sell for retail prices....

I just sold a 16GB iPhone 4 for $250 2 days ago. I'd say compared to Android devices, they hold the most value.

But Apple products tend to be more expensive in the first place... So it's the same really

I disagree. Other products percentage wise depreciate a lot more. The portion of the cost you get back on Apple products is generally a lot higher in that respect.

still getting $200-$250 for iphone 4, got $300 and $350 for ipad 2 so maybe you just dont have skill like some of us! :D

Granted not a iPhone, but I sold my old 2nd gen iPod Touch earlier this year for $100.

I noticed the resale has gone down, but still good. I attribute this to me not being able to sell to weird countries on ebay anymore that don't have access to an apple store. Apple stores are sprouting up everywhere now.

Yes I do. Even the dedicated GPS devices plus OnStar sometimes can't get it right. Still lots of people are satisfied with the Maps app.

Agreed. It's a minor issue. And not hardware related.
And for me, it's getting it right about as much as googlemaps did.

Buying something and selling it in less than a week is already an issue. I think if you keep your iPhone in good/great condition and try to sell it in a year (unlocked) then you won't feel too disappointed with what you get back.
