The green grift is unbelievable. Sink a little money in to something and you’ll control whatever initiative you want. Amazing how quiet all these “green groups” are to China, India, Russia, etc.
Nothing is ever as simple as it appears on Internet forums.

At any rate, Apple’s initiatives to reduce waste, to switch to renewables, and move towards carbon neutrality should be lauded. They walk the walk for more than most corporations.

Good for them, but we need an independent third party to verify these claims. It’s very easy for corporations to buy up carbon offsets that don’t actually do anything (often they are credits for green projects that were already going to be built anyways, regardless of the credits) and claim they’ve gone carbon neutral.
There's a Last Week Tonight for that :)

To all the skeptics. If Apple were lying about this don't you think Greenpeace and all the environmental activists would be all over them like stink on poop?
Greenpeace $2 activists and so-called "Celebrity" sellout activists like Greta can be easily purchased and made to parrot your own narrative. All these claims by Apple are worthless when you factor in their proprietary charges and cables. Non-repairability of their devices with simple DIY swaps also goes against them.

Believe the science. Universal carbon neutrality and elimination of fossil fuels by 2035 or we are all going to die.
She tried to warn us…

Does anyone really care about this? Whenever I go to the nursery, they are pumping CO2 into the greenhouses like there's no tomorrow. It's what plants like.

Wait but… isn’t that carbon dioxide that’s just taken out of the atmosphere, compressed, and then released into the greenhouse to regulate the gas mixture?

Lmao that has nothing to do with generating beyond what’s already in place…

… other than yes of course the energy used to regulate the mixture in the form of monitoring and then compressing and releasing….

… which could be done with solar panels…

… and then go replant an area, or donate money to a tree planting service…

If you want to be super technical about offsetting the carbon footprint of using energy to optimize greenhouse gas mixture.

Now if you are trolling, then this message was all for nothing.

Helping their suppliers? Carbon neutral = carbon credits - emissions + number of trees planted.
Yup all those solar farms look green to me. Along with the millions of tons of waste and resources it takes to make them. But green it is.
Who knows exactly how it’s done. I’m thinking it’s good they do so something atleast.

would be nice with an external auditor checking how it is.

This is a good step but it seems like this does only apply to Apple’s direct (Tier 1) suppliers, is that correct? Those would be mostly manufacturers of components, chips etc. A significant amount of emissions (if not the by far largest amount) is being caused by raw material (Tier 2) suppliers such as mining sites etc. Are they being included in Apple’s policies?

It always baffles me how people who have the time and expertise to post or parrot ideologies have this chicken little mindset.

Sitting comfortably in a dry, warm or cooled shelter with food to sustain oneself, running water (hot/cold), electricity, etc while benefiting from other nations and people’s exploits while having the moral disdain that those who have far less, none at all or never will should do more or less to benefit their personal lifestyle.

When do people see the folly of their ways and step down from they collective high horse to consider would their be willing to sacrifice their lifelong privileges for the greater good vice pointing the finger at other nations and societies to compromise more.

Talk is cheap folks, if you really believe what you are saying sell everything your own, go live in a third country/developing country as a local and then come back in 5 years with an update if you will continue with the lifestyle or not.

Physical action not just words from all the commenters or you just be trolling.
