Apple's projected to beat projections.

Ahuh >_>

----------

With stock split and will go to $100/share pretty soon or all time high within the next few months...Larger iPhone 6, iWatch, new larger iPad, MacBook Air with Retina, new Mac Mini, Apple TV, iOS 8, OS 10 Yosemity, HomeKit and HealthKit accessories and who knows another category at 5.5" screen device (iPhone?, Apple-Gamepad or god know what other name...)...with the healthy product pipeline, it's enough to shoot the stocks to the sky. Still, some numbnuts still says Apple's doomed. Wait and see.

Apple is doomed. We all are.

Haha it's pretty funny to see all of your cynicism.

I think the china mobile customers should add to the earnings this qtr.

I'm guessing the smartphone market has been growing as well. I wonder what their market share this year vs last year is? All I know is I see a lot less people with iPhones then I used to.

I'll use my friends as an example. We were out grabbing food and 6 had Androids 2 had iphones. Year of the iphone 4 it would have been the reverse.

Guarantee you don't see fewer iphones, you just see more smartphones in general.

Wall Street will be so confused. Apple always beats their own estimates but often misses the misguided predictions of analysts.

This is one of the reasons apple stock is undervalued. Expect a bump in stock because of this but unlike the buy on the rumor , sell on the news, this will be contrary.

This is just a scheme to raise the expectations beyond the original expectations, so they can be disappointed later when only the original expectations have been surpassed.

Apple is going to explode by December. Look for easily $125 a share...EASILY.

I actually agree with this. All it takes is a new product perceived to be opening a new market and boom - it will take off like a rocket.

Edit: And I suspect that is why they did the stock split now - they have something big in the works and they know it

This could be a typical analyst "pump" scheme. Rest assured, if they do not beat earnings estimates and the stock tanks, said analysts will not take responsibility for being wrong in their projections. Either way, the real story in Apple's stock future will be how well received any new product announcements are, and how strong the iPhone 6 demand really turns out to be. I am holding my shares because I believe the demand pent up for a larger iPhone is massive.

Could not agree more. The iPhone 6 will be worth the wait for sure!

Four years ago I saw this:

In my non-scientific study... 7 of my friends had Blackberries in 2010. Today... 6 have iPhones and 1 has Android.

Note that I am located in the United States in the Southeast.

Worldwide we know that 8 out of 10 smartphones shipped today run some version on Android. That's due, in part, to the rather inexpensive Android phones sold around the world.

Apple's phones start at $450 or more depending on the country... while Android phones start at $50

No wonder Android is "winning"

That does not, however, mean that Apple is "losing" necessarily. Apple is playing a different game than Google and all of the Android OEMs around the world.

Quantities are 1 thing, profitability is another. As there's more aggressive pricing, is Apple making as much profit?

Share holders will punish Apple if they're not blowing past profitability estimates.

IP67 rating

I spilled water on my iphone 4 yesterday. I was like three more months, just need 3 more months to live. Turned it off and it was working this morning... phew! :D Probably would've gotten a Nexus 5 in the interim had it died.

Scary huh? I haven't heard anything about water and dust resistance. The Samsung S5 and the coming S5 mini (their mini is the size of apples gigantic) are water resistant to 1 meter for 30 minutes. That is a cool feature. I could consider the mini S5.... Iphone6 better be persuasive.

Its the opposite with my friends and colleagues. Three years ago myself and most of the people I know had Samsung's and HTC's. Now most of us have iPhone's and they appear to be more popular generally in public in the last 2 years in my experience. This all differs wherever you are in the world I suppose but I think in the UK iPhone's are generally more affordable on contract so you see more of them about.

yeah I'm sure it depends on where you are in the world. But around my office and group of friends the % of android is going up % of iphone is going down. But Canada went iphone crazy when it first it with the iphone 3g. I was rare to see people using an android device 3g - iphone 4. It was mostly iphones stealing BB business then.

Margin was improved last earnings.
It has always been high for apple around 40% in recent quarters.

Gross margin is slightly rising, but net profit is slightly down.

Both are less than a couple of years ago, but still higher than competitors.

That's the overall picture but it doesn't reflect what the per device profit may be.
I'm sure their acquisition activities, r&d etc fluctuate over time.
I don't think these small fluctuations in margin is a big deal.
