I'd maybe take advantage of the NYT offer. Probably not any of the others, unfortunately. :(

Why not continue asking even though you're not getting 20% back? Seems weird not to at least attempt it at the "official" stores.

It's not my job to do Apple's work for them. Also sure Apple Pay is fast but chip has gotten much better and I don't mind the extra 10 seconds. The worst part is when you ask the cashier, some always look confused and some nicer ones would want to get their manager for me. In the end it really only makes my life more difficult along with longer check out time. I'd say if this was a brand new product I can tolerate the lack of support, but I think the trial period is over, at least for me. Lastly, I don't want to have to be constantly switching between the various payment.

I'm talking about touch part.
As far as Apple Pay is concerned, Touch ID on a Mac is really redundant since you can simply use a paired iPhone to authorize a payment in Mac Safari.

In any case, you can take advantage of the offer with your Mac Pro.

I don't understand how it's an Apple problem that some retailers simply don't want to install the necessary equipment or enable functionality that comes with whatever they just installed. Some of these places (like Walmart) will never support contactless payment even if Apple offers to pay them for each Apple Pay transaction. At this point, if people want more places to support it they should be taking their business to places that do (and letting the places that don't know).

BTW, it's gotten better but chip is still a minimum of a second or two slower than swiping--and more like 5-6 seconds or so slower most of the time.

Cant even get Apple Pay to show up as an option on Apple Store in Sierra Safari with compatible everything

I'm in the U.K. & if I visit the Apple Store for the U.S. it shows up.

Visit the British store and there's no option.

Only Shopify ATM has Apple Pay support online over here.

Until then I keep visiting http://www.stripe.com/apple-pay/ and using the demo feature instead.

Honestly there is nothing to argue about. You are probably right this is not Apple's problem. As a customer I couldn't care less at this point, chip is secure enough and widespread enough that I'm going to use it. If Apple doesn't care to do more, oh well.

I am saving to buy an Apple Keyboard with touch bar for my existing iMac. (When released)
It can't be more than $499, or can it...?

What do you think Apple can do that they haven't done already? I'm genuinely curious, not trying to argue.

Go visit many of the mom and pop store. I think they can provide free equipment and educate them on the better security and possible increase in customer. I noticed a lot of them are still using the swiping. For example, the four square NFC would be able to take both Apple Pay and android pay. There is a reason why Samsung went with different payment technology as their contactless payment. I know that apple probably doesn't have much influcent over the bigger company. But mom and pop store along would be a plus.

"Apple said more offers are coming soon from retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Bank of America, Caviar, Chase, Poshmark, Tumi, Under Armour, Warby Parker, and The Washington Post. The offers are valid in the U.S. only."

Probably will hear about more as the holidays get even closer.

Wait, BofA and Chase are considered retailers?

I have never used Apple Pay yet and have no plans to start. I still use my debit card or cash. It just seems weird to pull out a phone to pay for something. My baks card still doesn't work with Apple Pay and only credit cards do. I won't pay for most things using credit.
