I just love how some people on here complain that they "don't have time to work out every day" when you can burn calories with a NORMAL, AVERAGE goal just by going for a simple walk for a short time. Are you REALLY too busy?

Be honest. You're unwilling to turn off the TV and go for a basic, brisk walk for 15 minutes, and then turn around and briskly walk back home to get to your 30 minutes. It's not about unreasonable expectations. It's about falsely acting like a level of activity that your parents and grandparents had is somehow beyond your body's ability, which is absurd. That episode of Workaholics will still be available later on.

Normal human beings don't work out seven days a week.
"Workout" is a relative term. Some can complete a workout doing their normal day's activities. Back when I was a commuter, I structured my daily commute to include about 45 minutes of walking (nearly as fast as taking a Midtown bus, and far cheaper), and I probably put on a couple more miles around the workplace. Come the weekend, replace that with mowing the lawn, a bit of sports... bada bing, bada bang!

Part of the point of structured exercise is that too many of us don't manage to get the kind of physical activity our pre-Industrial Revolution bodies and metabolisms were built for.

That's an easy badge to get.
Yes, I hear a lot of people dismissing the badge concept but for some, including me that's a motivational thing that keeps me trying to get as many as I can.
In the end if that keeps you moving and getting healthy, that's all positive.

It's all about habit. Honestly anyone can do it if they set their minds to accomplish that.
I swim almost everyday and the days I can't do it or the pool is closed, I'll go for a walk, bike, etc. The idea is to keep moving and that will make you feel way better.
I believe, I am pretty normal BTW.

As someone who is active and in the gym four or five days a week lifting weights and doing cardio and have been for the majority of my life. Your body needs rest.

So no, it is not normal. The average person doesn't even go to the gym. Much less be active every single day.

I just love the people who try and shame people and act holier than thou instead of encourage.

And no, I'm not fat or overweight. I'm very active. I'm in the gym for at least an hour and a half four or five times a week.

I just realize that a lot of people don't have the same time or motivation that I do.

Closing the rings everyday is not a problem as long as I don't fly across half the world.
What the hell does it take these morons to figure out how to accommodate for time zone differences, especially some of them fly all over the world all the time!

I followed what my apple watch told me to do last year. Then this happened! Anybody that tells you the watch is BS is trying to steal your woman! Or your man! Apple is using the same psychological tricks to get you to work out that COD uses to keep you stuck to the couch or the overstressed gaming chair! The watch is geniuses. Do you know how I can tell? Tim Cook is wearing one! View attachment 819401

Jono&&,
that's a great progression.
you are definitely on the right track.
while still remaining on topic, what are you doing to get this?
keep it up ! go for it.

I hope in Watch OS 6 they allow for a rest day

just set your movement calorie target low enough for your rest day to achieve it. 30 minutes of "exercise time" per day even on a rest day is a healthy choice, as the watch records pretty much any consistent movement, even slow walking, as exercise. standing is standing. i do wish there could be WEEKLY movement targets so you can account for 10+ mile running days and then a rest day with nothing but normal movement.

You can easily be active everyday. Sure a lot os people don't do anything and live sedentary lives but anyone can easily workout everyday. It doesn't need to be hours of training. Some people go for a walk, surf, swim, bike etc.
My point was anyone can workout/ be active everyday and the body will be just fine adjusting to it. Rest days are optional with you do not push yourself to exhaustion. Being active is a mindset and any normal person can do it.

I hope you people are joking. It’s not hard to close your rings. Make changes and stay consistent. Soon things will become habit and easier.
That’s fine if you wear your watch daily iam a motor mechanic and don’t wear mine during the day so it’s hard to fill in all the rings everyday

I set my daily goals so that if I do any reasonable amount of organized exercise - including simply going for a walk - it's almost impossible to not hit my targets (700 calories / 30 minutes); on most days, I shatter them. But if I don't have any organized exercise, I have to really work at staying active in small doses throughout the day to meet those targets. That's a great sweet spot.

On work days (Mon-Fri), I hit the gym every morning and do at least 20 minutes of cardio. I try to do weights (25 minutes or so) 4 times a week, time permitting. Weekends I get my exercise by going on 2-3 mile outdoor walks. I don't need "rest days" with that kind of workout schedule.

30 minutes of exercise a day is pretty easy, 7 days a week, Doesn't have to be a full workout, just go for a walk or something. If conditions mean you can't go outside, pace around the house/apartment for 10 minutes at a time, three times over the course of the day.

Since it’s been cold, I walk more at work and chase behind my toddler for at least 6 hours before we go to bed. I go beyond my move goal everyday but don’t always close my exercise ring. I’m just glad I move more. I just got a job where I’ll be walking more than 5 miles a day, so that’s going to be my new exercise method.

I use the app Active Week, that will use Active Energy, Distance (Miles), Exercise Minutes, Flights, Mindful Minutes, Steps, Water (Fl Oz) and Workout Minutes everyday. Whatever I close during that day will determine where I am to achieve my weekly goals and let’s me know what day would count as a rest day for each category that I go over in. It’s been a pretty awesome app to use.

After having my watch since day one of launch some years ago, I finally started this year to close my rings every day, especially the exercise one. It really helps to stay active and it’s already a habit for me. Physical activity helps to stay focused at work.

I can safely say I won’t earn these. I’m lazy.

Sold my watch months ago been heavily less consistent!

"Badges...we don't need no stickin badges."

It’s been a long while since badges were offered or reported here to be honest.

Would be nice for Apple to offer a discount percentage incentive once every quarter!!

Bravo!!

Excellent progress man excellent!! Seems your workout and your diet is on point keep at it.

What the watch so far cannnot show is the increase in vitality, strength and huge boom to self confidence and mental stress relief as well as better focus to problem solving.

I get my watch mid month and going full out as well as I’m changing gyms.

For me the watch is a coach since I don’t have to bring my phone into the gym yet still have my workouts logged and tracked and listen to music.

I wouldn’t call them morons, but I’d love to see a fix for time zones. I’ve had to manually force my phone and watch to stay on my home zone when I travel, which kills the utility of both for local time.

I was on a transcontinental flight for over 16 hours one way. Can you imagine how painful it was to keep the damn stand circles filled all through the flight?
I managed to keep my streak even I have changed to the local time zone which is 12 hours ahead of my home's time zone.
Don't forget, there is the return trip too...
I really don't want to be insulting, but it has been how many years since the watch came out? And Apple has still yet to figure out how to fix this?

I've gone to both Australia (1 full day ahead) and Africa ( 9 hours ahead, in the other direction). Both required 14+ hour flights, and I had a hell of a time completing the rings. For Australia, I left my phone and watch on Tucson time, for Africa I gave up and lost two months of badges, as I took neither watch nor iPhone. I was duly frustrated.

I kept the stand circle filled by changing the time zone in small increments during the entire 16 hours plus flight where I should be getting some sleep.
It should not have been this stupid crazy if someone at Apple actually takes a look at it.
