I'm surprised Apple haven't gone big with Formula 1. Great opportunity there to combine a tech-heavy sport with their streaming service, add ons, loads of stats and displays to play with to augment watching races, global audience with a growing US presence.

Apple has shown an interest in picking up underdeveloped properties that show potential. The Silo and Foundation series are two good examples, MLS itself needed a push and a broadcaster with deep pockets and a built in user base. F1 is already wildly popular. Formula E on the other hand would be a great fit for Apple. tv+ would be an excellent home for the emerging electric car racing league.

The contract for F1 broadcasting in the US comes up next year. Rumor has it that Netflix is going to be aggressively bidding on it. I'm really hoping Apple throws their hat in the ring as well. However I'm not sure what that would mean for the Sky TV feed in the US or the possible implications of F1TV if Apple holds the rights. Either way I'd rather have Apple own it than Netflix. They have struggled with their live sports feeds and something on the scope of F1 may be more than they can handle.

They should sponsor a car so they can refer to it as “The Apple Car”

Ha, I wish! My salary would be a lot higher. Actually I watch through F1TV and not ESPN but I think Apple would do a great job with it. Especially with Eddie Cue's involvement on the Board of Ferrari and love of racing in general. I'm most worried about the future of F1TV and whether the capabilities it currently has will remain with a new US streaming provider in place. Maybe ESPN will pony up but I'm pulling for Apple.

ESPN has had an exclusive relationship with F1. Apple has bid for the next agreement for F1 in the US.

They are spending a few hundred mil on a movie showing a 60 year old driving an F1 car thats coming out shortly though in the meantime.

MLS should be free for TV+ subscribers. Apple is missing a golden opportunity. I will not pay extra for a season pass when I subscribe to TV+ and the Apple One package.

DO NOT SIGN UP TODAY IF YOU ARE A T-MOBILE CUSTOMER!!!!!!

You can get it for free for a year as part of T-Mobile Tuesdays in coming days. It’s tempting but it’s worth the wait.
What exacltly
American Football = Throwball
Soccer = Football

In any case, Apple made a big mistake with this 10 year MLS contract. Nobody was paying for ATV+ to just watch MLS Soccer, so they are now trying to save face by doing this Sunday Night freebie, and showing some games on cable tv.
can't imagine paying for streaming when I stream it for free online lol

If there's "one more thing" that is missing in Apple's media applications (Music and TV), is the option to permanently hide certain content/genres. Other streaming services have the same problem too.

It’s a shame the MLS is such an underwhelming football league, 4th in the Americas after the Brazilian, Mexican and Argentinian leagues and around 20th in the world.
This might have been true 10 or 15 years ago, but not anymore. MLS is still not at the level of the Big Five in Europe, but power rankings from the end of last MLS season put them at ninth in the world. I say that as someone who watches (Italian) Seria A (Atalanta supporter) and also subscribes to MLS on Apple TV.
