Probably just your number of posts combined with the fact that you post like an old timer with more respect, decency, and measured responses.

Holy cow, you really have been a member for less than a year! I'm with macduke, I thought for sure you'd been around here way longer than that. And now I'm feeling a little silly comparing the number of posts you've got to mine.

I would love to know exactly what this machine does. I am sure there is more to it than an automated lightning connector.

I think the machine used in the photo is just over the top, why not put the plug in by hand instead of this machine with actuators on it, I just don't get it, the calibration is all software, and maybe a sensor for display calibration, this way the above machine cost $ 1000's instead of maybe $100.

Less than a year here, and clearly very much not a relentless Apple-hater. Any chance you have a long single horn growing out of the middle of your forehead?

I'd be afraid to get my phone serviced at any place other than an Apple Store simply because the third party repair companies have been known to use non-genuine parts.
- This is obviously only for Apple Authorised Service Providers. No chance of non-genuine parts there.

My only experience with a third party repair company was abysmal. Thank God for American Express.

But I would bet Apple is going to be very strict with anyone they allow to participate in this program. Any hint of non-genuine parts usage, I would hope, would lead to an automatic revocation.
- Was your experience at an AASP?

Apple don't have enough resources to expand their repair facilities? Maybe if they made their products repairable?

No. It was Apple Pie Repair. It was a desperate attempt to fix touch disease on an out-of-warranty iPhone 6 Plus. This was before Apple's decision to start offering service on that issue.

They sent it back with all new scratches, a new screen covered in yellow splotches, and the fix itself did not work at all. At first they claimed the new scratches must have been because we dropped it after receiving it, and therefore we must have broken it again ourselves. Then they demanded we send it back at our expense to give it another try, but American Express stepped in and just refunded us.

Avoid them at all costs!
