I'm surprised that no one has reacted to the point that the letter was sent by the Asian Network of People who Use Drugs (ANPUD).
First, isn't it a little bizarre that there is a group set up as an advocacy group for drug users? Is there an AAOA group (American Association of Opioid Abusers)?
Second, isn't their complaint a little self-serving?
I would imagine that they are not happy that their dealers are being gunned down, but that wouldn't make me particularly sympathetic toward them.
So maybe just go to the ANPUD website and check what they say about themselves (they link to the Vancouver Declaration). It might make you think a bit, particularly if you remember that legality of drugs and the politics that go with it are far from universal and clear cut.
What would you think of a vigilante movement against alcohol users? Against tobacco, marijuana? Why some are still socially accepted even if they are a public health problem while others are totally forbidden?
And maybe if there was an AAOA they could fight more effectively against the American opioid crisis, instead of letting politicians and lobbyists of all shades manipulate it all?
