The upgrade button is still enabled on the beta, if you feel brave enough to try it and report bugs. Probably don't use your main Apple ID though.
Never? I don't believe that. That said, there might be a distinction between "point" releases and minor releases.
Version: 16.2.3
- 16 — (major) Manual installation mandatory
- .2 — (minor) Manual installation mandatory
- .3 — (point) Auto-Installation, usually around 2am-3am in the morning.
If you upgrade to the new Home Architecture you also can’t disable Apple TV from being a HomeKit hub as the option to do so disappears.
I was looking for it today and it was gone.
You can still disable AppleTV from being a hub.
They've just changed the setting name. Can't remember where it is off the top of my head but where you choose which room it is sitting in you scroll all the way to the bottom and disable it there.![]()
I am hosting my Homebridge on my Synology (it is running 7.1 update 3) my Homebridge is running v1.6.0 which it says is the latest. No issues.Anyone using the new architecture with Homebridge? And by any chance with the older version 1.5.1 (the newer doesn't work on Synology)?
With Docker or as a "native" package via Package Center?I am hosting my Homebridge on my Synology (it is running 7.1 update 3) my Homebridge is running v1.6.0 which it says is the latest. No issues.
It is a native package. Have not played with Docker on the Synology. With Docker or as a "native" package via Package Center?
Thanks for the advice, that actually worked! I still had one Apple TV that I thought was updated and it wasn’t, after rebooting all the systems, I was finally able to get things to work! Before you go through the trouble of doing this, try running your hubs (i.e. Apple TVs and HomePods) through a power cycle. That worked for me to get my spouse back on the Home.
Interesting. Quite a few others report of the same problem over at Github. Glad to see not everybody is affected. It is a native package. Have not played with Docker on the Synology.
Thanks! You can resize the buttons when you go into edit mode.
Both could be used at the same time. In this case, the Controller app is purposely to make a backup. Once you delete the home through HomeKit and recreate it, just restore from the Controller app, to have all the setup as before without needing to start from scratch.I think that was referring to making a backup if you were using the third-party 'Controller' app as your HomeKit interface rather than Apple's Home app.
Is there any way of knowing which architecture I am on, I updated my Homepods and ATV when 16.2 was released, I saw the home upgrade notification on my iphone but don't think I selected it, however after my gear was upgraded the option never came back. Everything is working as expected so not sure if I've been lucky and it's upgraded or it's still on the original architecture.
The fact that you’re starting fresh is probably the key. Nothing to replace or go wrong on update.
Do you use automations and if so can you verify they’re working? (not just the Test button as that works for me but the actual automations don’t trigger when they’re supposed to)I honestly do not know what issues people have been having, I have 12 Home Pod minis and all updated to 16.2 with only one taking slightly longer then the others,
Sorry to anyone who has suffered issues but all fine here.

you know, I was hesitant to upgrade the architecture because it promises pre-16.2 devices will no longer function with the home app, but for [reasons] I went ahead and upgraded the architecture anyway. but heres the interesting bit: I downgraded my iPhone to 16.1.2 for [reasons] and everything works totally normally like it always did (ok 95% the same because 1 of the 18 devices in my setup now takes a couple seconds to update its status in the Home app. it happens to be one of several thread-enabled devices and, as such, was always one of the instant ones instead of relying on slow bluetooth or a hub to relay etc. but this small delay for 1 device is nowhere near the purported complete loss of functionality/interoperability. strange, eh?The fact that I had multiple devices that can't get iOS 16 or Ventura, including other people in my house, meant it was a no-go to update for me.
HomeKit hasn't worked properly since updating to the new architecture.. I sure hope they sort it out considering there's no way to go back
Yes, the issue I'm having is I set everything up using my Apple TV 4K as a hub and it works perfectly for a few days then all of a sudden I see devices not responding or devices not reachable.. Happened 3 times already and each time I reset all devices involved, sign out and back into iCloud, then add all my devices back to HomeKit.. I stopped trying after the last attemptMy worry is Apple has only acknowledged one problem, which is the inability to add other people to your home. I haven’t seen anything mentioned about the other problems people are having ranging from devices stuck in configuring to recording no long working and everything in between.
