Well yeah it’s beta so you use at your own risk for sure. I usually never beta test watchOS but the official 11.0 release two weeks after my install on 16th started draing my AW Ultra 1 battery twice as fast as 10.x did which has been normal since I got my Ultra 1 year and half ago.

So I read that beta 2 of 11.1 still had drain but if by joining test I can tell apple about it and they will improve. So I reported beta 2 continued battery drain and it sent the phone/ipad and watch sysdignose files and with in hour it said known issue and lots of reports. When beta 3 dropped on Monday I installed and it has reduced the excess battery drain by 50 percent although still above the pre 11.0 official use I had on all the 10.x updates. So far I am not having the issues reported but hope it continues ok til beta 4

Apple needs new leadership and a new culture.

And don't give me that, "Are you Tim Cook?! Do you run a trillion dollar company?!" No, Tim Cook might have been good for investors, but not for customers and users. I am speaking as a user.

Or, "Are you an Apple engineer?! Software has bugs you know. That's why they call it a beta?!" I am not an engineer, but I still have a right to judge as a user. I am not a chef, but I pay and eat, and I know when the food sucks. And their final releases still brick devices, so don't lecture me about betas.

None of those overused excuses and comebacks ever made any sense, and they are getting more absurd. Admit that Apple has a real problem, and it has been getting worse.

Some major copium in this thread right now 😂

These mistakes aren’t just beta are they, there is a big problem with Apple right now.

And we think you’re going to love it!!!
If copium is accurately saying that beta software carries risks no matter how far along said beta is, then hand me all the copium in the world, I guess.

I never had any problem with any update on any of my family's Apple products (over 25 or 30 and over 80 updates). This is just the usual forum angst and disinformation that pollutes the internet. ARGH

There is no want, after the next .1 release I’m done with Apple betas going forwards. Period. I dont trust their testing process in light of the last month. It’s felt like walking a field of land mines.
It is interesting testing developer 18.0 and then 18.1 on my M4 iPad Pro i have had few issues and I often test my iPad if i am iterested in testing some particular features. I even did 18.1 beta on my iPhone 15 PM since am not upgrading this year waiting for 17 PM. But betas are betas and we are testing to hopefully find these things. And I have my original pre beta iPad and iPhone OS’s backed up on my MacBook that does not have beta to be safe.

But there were two issues of major import that did not get caught:

1)Officlal 18.0 bricked some of the new M4 iPad Pros (I had no Problems with 18.0 beta on mine and now am using 18.1 beta on it)

2) As I mentioned earlier I installed WatchOS 11.0 official release on 9-16. It worked great ( I am using year and half old AW Ultra 1 I got at clearance at Best Buy few months before AW Ultra 2 was released). Then on the 29th of September 13 day after my install of 11.0 a significant battery drain started I found my trusty ole Ultra 1 was now draining twice as fast in a day . Before 11.0 I was getting 75 percent left after a 12 hour day before it went on charger and with 11.0 I was getting 35 percent left after 12 hours.

So because of number 2 I decided to try beta 2 of 11.1 even though battery drain issues were reported and sure enough drain I saw in 11.0 continued but I filed a reporte and they noted on feedbak many had reported so the bug wa getting noticed. Beta 3 came out and I had no problems on Monday and my increase in drain lessened by 50 percent but still not back to the pre 11.0 official level i was getting in versions of 10.x.

So there are issues with 18.0 iPadOS on some M4’s and for me and others issues with battery drain (and actually the chart in battery setting had issues) in WatchOS 11.0 official so these bugs were not caught in testing of 11.0 betas.

People in these forums make this same claim literally every year—Apple has big problems! Steve wouldn't have allowed this! Apple is doomed!—and the world keeps turning. Things happen, Apple will be fine.

This is the third software version that Apple has pulled over the past month. In September, Apple pulled iPadOS 18 for iPad Pro models with the M4 chip after the update prevented some of those devices from working, and it also pulled HomePod software 18.1 beta 2 after that beta caused some HomePod speakers to stop working.

Pulling a beta is what betas are for. If the beta testing for iPadOS 18 were done better, they wouldn't have needed to pull the production release.
