I honestly forgot this even existed but it’s still sad to see it removed. The last time I had tried it, the imagery downloads couldn’t keep up with the tour, even on a solid Wi-Fi connection… it would’ve been nice to see them improve upon it instead of getting rid of it altogether.

Costs money.
Fun is on the chopping block.

Number must go up.

This would make Tim Cook rather happy now.

Maps kinda suck. It still doesn’t get my address correct but a block down. Plus some other features missing that Google Maps has. Too bad I can’t make it default in my region.
My address is non-existent according to Apple. Sent photos several times, in all occasions the reports were dismissed.

It might have been fun, but I'm not sure if I'd call it a "useful" feature. They were basically just trying flex on Google maps with some visual gimmicky.
It was an interesting and eye catching feature, but not considered useful.

It was kind of gimmick, one may use it once when launched but ever use it twice for the same city at least.

I will say the Report an Issue feature in Maps does work really well. I use it all the time and it's very rare that something I request to be improved or updated doesn't get done.
True, Maps tried to take me into an empty lot, rather than the actual location of my hotel.

Luckily, I could *see* the hotel from where I was.

Reported the issue, and it was fixed before I drove back home.

lol. Paper maps. Remember that as a kid. Do you move the car with your feet like in Fred the Flintstones? Surprised no Nokia flip phone.
I used to keep a plastic laminated map in my car, and I always had an older paper map that I could give away to a tourist who got lost.
I actually have quite fond memories of the pre-internet and pre-smartphone days ... drove thru 20+ countries using paper maps ...
Are you old enough to remember the AAA "Trip Tik" maps? Those were GREAT!

Siri once tried to make me drive off a boat ramp! I was too smart for her though. So now she gives me wrong answers whenever I ask her a question and she plays bad music in an attempt to get me arrested and thrown into the grey-bar motel for road rage!

I never had a Nokia flip phone, but the Motorola RAZR was quite amazing
Remember blackberries?

Maybe AppleML Sharp will pave an even more immersive experience for immersive street view ... possibly including flyover mode too?

Apple Maps no longer offers a Flyover feature that provides users with automated tours of notable landmarks in major cities. The Flyover option appears to have been nixed around when iOS 26 launched, but its removal went largely unnoticed.

iOS-26-Maps-Glass.jpg

Flyover city tours were introduced in 2014 with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, using Flyover imagery to generate an aerial tour. Most cities with Flyover imagery supported the tour feature, but it may not have been used often since Apple was able to quietly discontinue it.

Flyover imagery has not been removed and over 350 cities continue to have 3D Flyover imagery that highlights landmarks, parks, important buildings, and more with a bird's-eye view.

Apple uses imagery collected with small military-grade planes that created detailed maps of buildings from above for Flyover. The feature is not available in some areas due to privacy and security concerns.

Flyover city tours used to be accessible by tapping on the Flyover icon when searching for a city, but that option has now been removed.

I’m not sure if anyone is aware but Apple Maps doesn’t have turn-bu-turn navigation enabled in a number of countries around the globe. Without turn-by-turn navigation, Apple Maps is useless. It does show traffic congestion areas with a red line but that’s about it.

The same countries have Google Maps turn-by-turn navigation enabled. I live in Bahrain and I’ve been waiting for YEARS for turn-by-turn navigation and it’s still not available. I love Apple Maps and I use it always whenever I travel to Europe.

Check it for yourself here: https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#maps-turn-by-turn-navigation

How we getting on with that review system?

You leave reviews.

The more people who leave the reviews, the less you see of Yelp! and other third party review platforms. In downtown Toronto, Apple Maps reviews have increasingly become more common over the last few years. If you don't see them, it's because people in your city probably don't use Apple Maps enough.

Disappointing. Would have liked Apple to expand it instead of discontinuing support for it.

As long as POI and businesses are missing or outdated, Apple Maps will be inferior to Google Maps.

And I’ve recently noticed a decline in reports on road works and accidents in my region (Belgium).

And finally, speed limits are more wrong than correct. So it’s basically a coin flip.

Let them focus on fixing these essentials instead of gimmicks like flyover.

The fact that they don’t have flyover in most cities now despite mapping for 11 years is a disgrace. The same with Lookaround and the quality of their satellite view.
I guess it is cuz now in the world we have to many conflicts, and this data can be used against peaceful ppl

I wish it was good enough to ditch Google Maps but the real time driving data and detour info when traffic suddenly changes is too valuable for me when I’m on the road for work.
