I wonder, would this feature be helpful in visionOS? If you look at Google's VR system, they seem to have a feature where you get to discover surroundings in Google Maps.
This would make Tim Cook rather happy now.
My address is non-existent according to Apple. Sent photos several times, in all occasions the reports were dismissed.Maps kinda suck. It still doesn’t get my address correct but a block down. Plus some other features missing that Google Maps has. Too bad I can’t make it default in my region.
It was an interesting and eye catching feature, but not considered useful. It might have been fun, but I'm not sure if I'd call it a "useful" feature. They were basically just trying flex on Google maps with some visual gimmicky.

True, Maps tried to take me into an empty lot, rather than the actual location of my hotel.I will say the Report an Issue feature in Maps does work really well. I use it all the time and it's very rare that something I request to be improved or updated doesn't get done.
True, Maps tried to take me into an empty lot, rather than the actual location of my hotel.
Luckily, I could *see* the hotel from where I was.
Reported the issue, and it was fixed before I drove back home.
I used to keep a plastic laminated map in my car, and I always had an older paper map that I could give away to a tourist who got lost.lol. Paper maps. Remember that as a kid. Do you move the car with your feet like in Fred the Flintstones? Surprised no Nokia flip phone.
Are you old enough to remember the AAA "Trip Tik" maps? Those were GREAT!I actually have quite fond memories of the pre-internet and pre-smartphone days ... drove thru 20+ countries using paper maps ...
Siri once tried to make me drive off a boat ramp! I was too smart for her though. So now she gives me wrong answers whenever I ask her a question and she plays bad music in an attempt to get me arrested and thrown into the grey-bar motel for road rage!True, Maps tried to take me into an empty lot, rather than the actual location of my hotel.

Maybe it’s a message to actually go visit places instead of sitting in front of a screen.I noticed recently that the feature wasn't available, but I just chalked it up to being on beta. I'm bummed about this. I like those flyover tours.
For all 3 people who bought the expensive tool-helmet?It does seem like this would have been really cool in vOS.
Remember blackberries?I actually have quite fond memories of the pre-internet and pre-smartphone days ... drove thru 20+ countries using paper maps ...
I never had a Nokia flip phone, but the Motorola RAZR was quite amazing
Of course I do, had a couple of those, and also 2-way pagersRemember blackberries?
I’m not sure if anyone is aware but Apple Maps doesn’t have turn-bu-turn navigation enabled in a number of countries around the globe. Without turn-by-turn navigation, Apple Maps is useless. It does show traffic congestion areas with a red line but that’s about it.
Apple Maps no longer offers a Flyover feature that provides users with automated tours of notable landmarks in major cities. The Flyover option appears to have been nixed around when iOS 26 launched, but its removal went largely unnoticed.

Flyover city tours were introduced in 2014 with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, using Flyover imagery to generate an aerial tour. Most cities with Flyover imagery supported the tour feature, but it may not have been used often since Apple was able to quietly discontinue it.
Flyover imagery has not been removed and over 350 cities continue to have 3D Flyover imagery that highlights landmarks, parks, important buildings, and more with a bird's-eye view.
Apple uses imagery collected with small military-grade planes that created detailed maps of buildings from above for Flyover. The feature is not available in some areas due to privacy and security concerns.
Flyover city tours used to be accessible by tapping on the Flyover icon when searching for a city, but that option has now been removed.

How we getting on with that review system?
I guess it is cuz now in the world we have to many conflicts, and this data can be used against peaceful pplThe fact that they don’t have flyover in most cities now despite mapping for 11 years is a disgrace. The same with Lookaround and the quality of their satellite view.
Completely agree. Launchpad on macOS was great. I still don’t know why did they remove it instead of allowing us to customize the grid size (something that was possible using the terminal).I loved that feature, it was fun and useful.
iOS 26 and Tahoe are just annoying. They keep taking away useful features and adding useless ones.
And that I suspect is a typical reaction & why they dropped itI completely forgot this was a thing, and I don’t remember ever using it.
