Then why, in 2009 when Windows 7 was released, wasn't Apple able to support it on my computer? I'll answer: Because the video card was so old that ATI didn't bother to write any Windows 7 drivers for it, and Apple couldn't be bothered to write their own. If I buy a computer that promises to be able to run Windows, and 2 years later it doesn't support Windows, it's obsolite.

Why is it Apple's responsibility to support ATI's video card in Microsoft's Windows?

It's not. Just like it's not Apple's responsibility to support iOS 5 on the iPhone 4. But that doesn't mean people wouldn't (rightfully) be upset.

As I said

Apple chose to use that video card in the MBP. They chose to not support all of the advertised features of their MBP after just 2 years. As I said before
This is why Apple is not like Microsoft.

Except that it still runs Windows. The exact same version of Windows that it was advertised to run. Apple never promised that you'd get to upgrade Windows to all the latest versions. Besides, this doesn't disprove anything that I said. You're picking on one tiny little issue that was not part of any original advertised feature (it was not advertised as compatible with Windows 7, after all), but ignoring the larger point.

This is also way off topic, btw.

Of course, rather than Apple's management and development team, you would be in a better position to know what decisions are best for Apple!

yeah but he was right that they are apparently eol-ing safari in leopard and you switched arguments when he called you to task about it... and who enquired whats best for apple, he's talking about what's best for the consumer...

Here, here. They 've gotten too smug and complacent. Instead of adapting their vision to fit their current size (that of the largest company in the world) and their very enlarged clientele's demands they are choosing to act as if they are apple circa 2004 when they could rightfully claim that "apple doesn't have the most resources of any company in the world", yet they still supported the requirements of their computers through time better than they do now.

At least advertising ZFS on snow leopard server made them keep their promise... oooops it didn't.

It's not way off topic, at best it can be considered slightly off topic. They could have assigned at most 5 people to write a bunch of lines of code to get windows' latest to work with a 2 year old computer that a few hundreds of thousands of people bought around the globe instead of collectively telling their customers to go to heck, and they couldn't afford 5 devs? And you 're seeing the "larger point" but he's not?

I didn't dig it up, johnnyhands did, and I saw it on the very top of the forum, surely you don't expect me to check dates on every single thread I see on top and reply to.

Any particular reason at avoiding the issue and instead calling me to task for something I clearly am not responsible for?

johnnyhands made a general post. You specifically dug up and quoted a year-old post. And yes, it's wise to check dates, as many threads or posts are no longer applicable. I'm not avoiding anything. I simply don't care to rehash this pointless topic again, just to satisfy your desire to argue. Read my comments from a year ago. Everything has been said that needs to be said.

You do realize that you're responding to a year-old thread, right?

Yes, but my finding of this thread via google is recent. And I just had a crash in TextEdit on Leopard that was also denied by Apple. So my conclusion is that bug reports from Leopard are now being denied by Apple with the B.S. error message, "Submission Failed. Your report could not be submitted. Please try again later."

So I suspect other people will find this webpage via google when they realize that all the crash reports on their Leopard system are failing. That is why I am responding.

I don't have a problem with Apple moving on from taking bug reports from older systems. I do have a problem with them LYING about it. If they wanted to be truthful, they would say, "Sorry, crash reports from this older version of Mac OS X are no longer being accepted." Or they program their crash reporter to not even appear for older systems - it could be done.

Why am I also not moving on to a newer system? Because of the surprises of software that worked fine, now not working (not always the fault of Apple, but still a concern), or features that are taken away - Quicktime being the most notorious in my experience.
