Its obvious to all that you understand the concept of lottery with insurance, well doneI still refuse to get a warranty.
I would rather pay $80 more if it turns out I *NEED* it than pay a definite $100 on the off chance that it may eventually save me $80.
$100 for the chance to POSSIBLY save $80.
If the phone doesn't break I saved $100 you lost $100.
If the phone breaks you saved $80 and I lost $80.
I would rather take the chance and save $100 than pay $100 on the chance to save $80. The cost is greater than the savings. If you end up breaking your phone twice it becomes a godsend but otherwise I think its a rip off.
Just makes sense to me.

Thanks I agreeI would argue that the post you quoted is the most useful post in the thread. And that this thread proves that many people don't understand the concepts he outlined. But keep up your snarky posts. They add a lot of value.

Some people look at it like this...
"if I don't use my applecare in the two years, then I WILL make sure I use it just before it expires"
They will get a new phone, with new battery and scratch free after 2 years, which should get them another year or so, all for $150
Interesting. I haven't thought of it like that.
Most customers spend $20-30 on a case to protect their phone. Also if at the end of 2 years your battery needs replacement that's another $80.
With applecare you can avoid both of those costs ($100 total) and simply spend $100 in advance knowing that you can be care free and case free because in 2 years you will get a brand new scratch-free iPhone replacement for $50.
Doesn't AppleCare plus also extend warranty another year? That's worth it when it comes to resell value.
Honestly $229 doesn't even sound that bad.
I always thought that you would have to pay full price to get a replacement (like an unlocked phone).
