Horrible! Tim Cook is a liberal ruining Apple! Apple should only be trying to make the most money inhumanely possible!!! (Sarcasm)
But maybe Tim's brand of liberalism is a wee bit self-serving. He is all in favor of an open immigration policy. But by tradition so is the California Lettuce Growers' Association. Of course, they take this position because they'd hate to see their source of cheap labor cut off. Is it possible Tim has a similar motivation?

Samsung is pretty terrible in this area. Not sure why people support this company (if you reside in the US). I'd rather support an American company that prides itself in quality, recyclable materials, security, and privacy. Throw in social values as well. Samsung is just a knock off company that can scale.

Let me correct that for you...

Not sure why "U.S. / American" has to be part of such a value system. I'm Canadian, and Apple has inspired me for years because of their focus on quality and attention to detail. It actually makes me sad that they are part of a country that has such broad social and political issues, but I don't let that blind me from seeing what makes Apple the real deal. They have heart like no other company in the industry. I hope they never lose that.

Really proud of Apple on this! Surprised to see LG not listed. Samsung really are the McDonalds of the electrical business aren't they. No ethics there.

That's fair. I tend to mention American, because I know people in these forums are from all over the world, so I try to be respectful of that knowing that just because my American views are one way, theirs around the world can be very different. I apologize if I offended you or anyone.

True...I think most people who dog him for liberal politics miss that point...that many of these moves are good for the bottom line of this particular company...as evidenced by profit and sales. They say stuff like just run the company and do your job as CEO (as if a billion dollar company can be entirely apolitical).

It's not "cheap" labor, it's any labor, at the prices they can pay. Thes business will simply go under if they try to pay more. People like you talk about this as if they're taking food from your children's mouths yet none of you would actually do any of these jobs. Of course the utter stupidity of the situation is that business merely moves to another country, such as Mexico, so the well paid jobs leave with the lowly paid ones and the economy shrinks just a little bit.

But of course we all know this isn't about economics...

Great way to justify it to yourself. More power to ya.

I don't need to justify anything. I just choose to support a company more in line with my personal beliefs. There's parts of the supply chain in every product that is compromised some way. Impossible to be holier than thou, like yourself. Maybe one day I can be like you.

Never said, or even implied it was a holier than thou situation. I like Apple products but dislike the sleazy way they talk crap about evading tax. But not enough to not buy the X.
Samsung have a significant impact on Apple iPhones. If it bothered you that much you wouldn't buy them
Stop kidding yourself. Your standards are just as doubled as mine and everybody elses.

That’s all well and good. I’ll still choose to support a company more in line with my personal values.

Why are so many people using this thread to complain about Apple? This is obviously a good thing, from any point of view. Why are there so many Apple haters trolling this site nowadays?

Bravo Apple. Let the haters attack Apple even for this headline. Shows how irrational they are.

omg Neiman Marcus.

edit: I read part of the full report, and they ranked zero due to having no policy posted on their website.

For those who are interested, the report is here: http://bit.ly/2yPwgvQ

Methodology and source make me skeptical here. Add to that the fact that the two worst listed for consumer electronics are suppliers to Apple makes me question the rankings even further. Totally agree that making your targets companies that won't exist in five years is silly (although I thought Neiman Marcus was bucking the department store retail trend, maybe that's changed). In any case, advocacy group makes a press release that supports their mission, news at eleven.

Apple uses independent auditors to check on it's suppliers - much of these regulations and procedures are from the Dodd Frank Act which the Republicans want to repeal. However in the EU these regulations are even more strict and are necessary in order to sell these manufactured products in the E.U.
Apple takes this stuff very very serious because the need to maintain and protect their brand.
How do I know this? - i can just say I know the inside scoop on this.
