I really wish they would enable the ability for us to make our own watch faces. I would really love to make my own one. It's one thing I envy about the Android Smart watches.

I do find it amusing that prior to Watch all we heard was how no one wears watches anymore, then Watch comes along and gets knocked for not looking like a traditional watch.
I think what you really mean is a lot of smartphone users on tech forums said they didn't need a watch anymore because they could use their phones instead. Strangely, a lot of them now find they need a smartwatch to access the functions of their smartphone. ;)

Lots of people still wear watches, you are only noticing them now because Apple has entered the market.

The more watch faces the better. Always enjoy variety. Wouldn't mind some licensed faces from college or pro sports teams etc. But honestly, over new faces, id love to see more apps be added to complications. CNN news headlines as a complication is great but where is sports headlines via ESPN or gaming headlines via IGN etc.

Maybe they want a nicer looking Apple Watch instead? :p
I think a circular watch makes more sense for 2 reasons: they can use the Gear S2 UI, and it doesn't look like mini iPhone, having said that, :apple: Watch is the most gorgeous watch i ever seen in my life..but what's the point Ive will ruin the design eventually by making it thinner..just like they did with the iPhone and Retina MacBook 15 model
It's not a opinion it's a fact! a 15" MacBook Air design would look ugly

I got a watch as part of my job. The faces are nice but surprised how few their are. I only use the watch face and messages so I wish there were more watch face options. Overall I think it is a product without much utility for the price. It has about $100 of value to me (not a watch wearer). But I would love more faces.

The difference is iOS doesn't have any mechanism for changing themes, you can't select from a bunch of Apple's ones. WatchOS does support themes (ie faces) for you to switch between, and personalisation is part of it's appeal. I think (and hope) we will be able to download new faces in the future.

This made me think, I wish the iOS lock screen was more function beyond swiping down for widgets/notifications or up for control center.

I only use the Modular face. Modular was the face I most wanted to avoid at the start because it was the least watch like to me. It turns out though, its the most helpful with all of the info it provides. I'm not sure what I would ask for in the future other than maybe more space for more info at a glance. Then again, it could look bad with more info. I just don't know but happy someone is woking on more ideas.

With my degraded view analog is just better to read.

I basically never use any of the apps because they are so slow and inconsistent (lots of old information). Even if they were fast, I'd only use them to check info quickly. Therefore, watch faces, complications and glances are pretty all I use. And ApplePay, incoming phone calls, and Siri reminders, but that does not take any real UI space. I actually really like the watch, but I'd probably like it a lot more if the next watchOS was focused on those features. Get rid of apps -- just put those functions in glances. And definitely, definitely get rid of that stupid friends circle thing.

Maybe just me, how many watch faces do I need or want. In the last 3 months still using the same watch face. Not like the watch face is seen by others, black most of the time, compared to a non smartwatch. I use my Apple Watch for all the other very nice things it does. Interesting for me to see the responses to this thread.

If Apple doesn't open the watch faces up for third party development, they're missing out on a huge money-making opportunity. I'm sure they know that and I'm sure eventually they'll open watch faces up to third-party developers. Apple will have to police it very well, though, because I'm sure there will be many developers who try to submit watch faces that copy Rolex, TAG, etc.

I just hope the Apple Watch 2 has a more modern and elegant look. Currently looks like a toy IMO. Maybe tweaking the crown to something like this and making it thinner.

Heck, I would love it if it looked like this smartwatch:

Just introduce 3rd party faces and don't worry about any more stock faces, they're a nice starting point as they are. Apple can still have absolute control, only allowing 3rd party faces they've approved in some special 'Face Store' available via the Apple Watch app on iPhone.

If the watch face does not stay on so others can see it, what's the point. Still a black face 90% of the time. Old time watches, this type of face was truly stunning and a statement to others as well as the wearer. The Apple Watch face is almost exclusive to the wearer. Just saying.

More watch faces and complication needed.

Apple Music complication and watch face

A specifically designed activity watch face.

More Apple app complications definitely needed! No excuses.

"Stand the test of time". Sure hopes that means that I can keep my Apple Watch more than a year before it's obsoleted.

I've been waiting patiently for Apple to make it possible to display seconds on the digital watch faces. After writing to them twice about it (last May and again in September after downloading watchOS 2.0) I have to conclude that this seemingly simple change that would make the watch much more useful to me is not a priority. So I am limited to the analog faces that have a seconds hand. Hopefully they will offer this simple option to us soon, since without it I might (gasp) choose a non-Apple device next time that does...
