Do the refurb watches from Apple direct get a new case and battery?

All it says in the blurb is iOS devices get a new case and battery, technically Apple Watches have watchOS so it’s not clear.

Also if not what is the battery health on anyone who’s had one please.

I’m thinking of upgrading my S6 to a S7, as (to me) the S8 is not an upgrade to the S7 really, and may as well get a refurb.

Thanks

It should essentially be a new device from the outside and have a new battery. It has a 1yr warranty as well

It’s basically a new watch.

New battery, new outer casing and all the internals etc cleaned.

I got my series 4 from Apple Certified Refurbished and it was perfect and has been to this day.

Funnily enough, today, I have just ordered myself a S7 my wife an SE through certified refurbished.

Easy decision with the savings to be had.

Could someone point to where Apple says watches get new case and battery?

Apple site mentions it only for iOS devices…

It should...but I can't find where it says what the watches get as in refurb. They do come with 1yr warranty (I'm in UK), and can also buy AC+ as well.

Agree. I've had refurb items direct form Apple before and always been great. How much did you pay for those? Why did you chose S7 over S8? I'm thinking as the S8 is basically identical to the S7, whereas the S6>S7 is a little upgrade.

Exactly my question. I presume they do, but the blurb n Apple website (UK) anyway, specifically says "...iOS devices get new case and battery" The watch isn't an iOS device. It maybe wording, but I can't find proof.

With the return period, if you get a refurb watch that isn't perfect and doesn't have 98%+ battery capacity just send it back. Plus as you mention, you can buy AC+ to go beyond the initial year of warranty and thus if the battery goes below 80% capacity it gets replaced under AC+.

When doing a battery replacement I've read people reporting they received a refurb with fresh battery, so perhaps the refurbs do get a new battery. Or perhaps only some of them get a new battery and thus Apple doesn't promise all of them do? Could make sense not to replace a battery on a returned watch placed into the refurb program, particularly if it hadn't degraded more than a couple percent?

As for buying S7 refurb vs S8 - graphite SS 45mm A7 refurb is US$549 vs $749 for the S8. Midnight sport band isn't bad either IMHO (and I have other bands I'd generally use).

If Apple sold refurb SBTi models I might buy one since they've dropped it from the S8 lineup, but otherwise I suppose I'll just ride out my SBTi S6 another year. It does what I need and I don't feel strongly enough about the screen size difference to switch to Graphite SS.

Got a refurb S7, after asking on Apple support chat who said came with new battery, and a new case only if necessary.

Mine looks brand new, battery health is 100%, strap came sealed in separate box, so presume it’s new. Overall very happy. Deciding wether to get AC+ or not for it

Received a refurb S6 under AC+ today. Looks new with no scratches on the steel.
I was not lucky enough to get upgraded to the series 7 though lol
Apart from the screen, don’t miss too much about the new stuff especially since the cpu is same.
