So would you prefer we never transition to USB-C?

Its not about transition, its about crippling a machine that is supposed to be for your work. Just think by yourself, what do pros need? If you are not a professional who takes his own MacBook into clients offices you may not know that you need a handful of adapters since they use all kind of old and new projectors, TVs, monitors, printers, drives and so on. Now if Apple cripples the new MacBook Pro and makes it another Starbucks MacBook I will need to buy more dongles and adapters and hope to never forget or loose one while I am in a clients office. I will need another HDMI dongle, a new SD-Card reader, possibly a USB-C to Headphone adapter, a couple of USB-C to USB-A dongles and a MagSafe adapter. I can't tell my clients they should buy new equipment just because Apple is so courageous to strip all useful things from a pro machine.

Yes and isn't macOS Market share growing still?
This is not a matter of growth, its about where Apple believes it as a company is going and where it believes growth exist. The pro market is no seen as growth. Its part of the reason the company has not invested much in desktop; instead betting on all Apple devices. The company is realizing that iPad growth is slowing rapidly. With IBM transitioning to Macs, its rejuvenating some interest from the company to get back into giving their desktop products some focus. The reality is, pro users in content creation are not the target (Mac Pro), its more likely the laptops.

On the surface your post may make sense, but digging deeper it really doesn't.

3D rendering does not require the latest machine or CPU and if it did the movie houses would go broke on constantly updating their devices. Also I doubt their primary machines are store-bought MBPs

Additionally if you update every year to the latest top-end Windows based PC you are essentially spending the equal of buying a new MBP. Dell XPS 15 16 gig memory, 512 gig drive $1699.99 i7-6700HQ Quad Core (6M Cache, up to 3.5 GHz) (Skylake for you Kaby drummers).

I would agree the current Micosoft Surface Book is a better machine than the current MBP, but will Microsoft update it every year? One problem, it doesn't run OSX and I wonder if anyone has run OSX well in a VM on the Surface.

Now if you are talking a desktop compared to a Mac Pro, well of course you can easily replace components, add memory and swap CPU (if they have same socket and are compatible with the board chip set) at a cost far less than a Mac Pro, but we all know that.

Oh I also see you are "newbie" here on Mac Rumors. Welcome, but if you are here just for the sport of Apple Bashing, well get in line many have led the way before you.

I might be a "newbie" here on the forum...but I'm a long time mac user (since 1986) and I NEVER had a pc before or even considered buying one. So I think I'm representing the pro users well enough.

You don't seem to get it. The current mac line DOESN't provide enough GPU (OpenGL, CUDA) power for pros. As a pro I don't care if i have to spend $3000 every year to have a fast workflow. The fact is, that I can't spend it for an apple product because they don't provide up to date harware for pros.

It's not about the money, it's about keeping up with the requirement of the newest version of software, plugins etc.
It's a fact, that if you're doing music production or anything in 4k or higher, the macs are not powerful enough anymore.

No I don't think you get what I'm writing about.

As a "pro" who uses computers, daily my tasks are normally not CPU or GPU limited. However I have found the 12" MB I currently use daily (I need the weight and size) is limited for me in one way, it does not VM well with its speed and non-fan (cooling) design. Thus I will be ordering the new 13" MBP because of its abilities in these areas. I use my computers daily for tasks ranging from coding to minimal video/graphic work and Apple does this as well or better when compared to any consumer portable computer in the market today.

Now on to your issue.

You want seem to want this:"it's about keeping up with the requirement of the newest version of software, plugins etc." I After over 35 years working with computers I can be honest and say this, "Apple Macs have never fulfilled your stated requirement."

Why aren't you using dedicated servers which can be updated both with hardware and software as needed?

A MacBook Pro has never fulfilled this requirement and probably never will.

Oh well you got your complaint off your back so let's get back to the event!

Thanks for the response!

Not for anyone that takes care of their products and washes their hands
I just don't know. I'm pretty OCD and sanitize every time I sit at the computer but that obsessiveness is kind of my point: I'd spend all my time wiping down my Macbook. Have you handled the Matte Black iPhone 7? It's a fingerprint/ oil magnet. Personally I think Space Gray is the perfect color: it's not as boring as silver, doesn't show fingerprints, and would be a nice contrast to that black OLED strip + keyboard.

Yea I have the Matte Black 7 Plus. I haven't had any issues, but I am a little OCD about that stuff as well. Majority of the time I am keeping it in a case though. I suggest looking at the Caudabe The Veil XT in stealth black. Same color as the matte black, but a little grippier, super thin.

I see what your saying. If your clients are anything like mine, I need VGA built in my laptop ;) Transition periods are always annoying. In a few more years when every single device ships with USB-C, it will be all goods.
