It's a good idea ?. Think, if even one person doesn't get a charger they don't need… that's still some of our shared resources saved, energy-use reduced and consequential pollution decreased.
A win-win scenario!

Everyone doing small things individually can add up to big things collectively.

Or they could tell customers “we aren’t providing charging bricks in the box but will supply you a free one upon time of purchase if you need one.”

Apple charges the same amount for devices without the brick and now sells millions of bricks at a premium price.

But you'd be, for the most part, back to square one then. I would think a majority of people would err on the side of caution and take the free power adapter, even if they objectively didn't actually need it. 'Free' is a strong motivator.

Adding a charge (while obviously beneficial to the company's finances) acts as a pause, and encourages people to actively consider if they really require one.

That point of view is centred around money being the primary concern – not our planet – so it's a different outlook…

The most serious violations are called Core Violations, and can include:
• Underage labor
• Unsafe or unhealthy environment provided to workers that may cause imminent, significant risk of serious injury, illness, property damage, or any form of loss

Has Timmy & the gang ever been to the cobalt mines in the Congo with it's child labour? Or a graphite mine in China where miners are Space Grey from the stuff & many die in their middle age??

Plus for all the back patting, Lithium mining & processing is worse than oil & coal combined. Modern society has been made dependent on minerals that are just as problematic and no true solution to environmental issues.

Because everything Apple does is centered around money. Thinking otherwise is just being naïve. I don’t have a problem with it but I’m also not going to pat them on the back for doing something that clearly is motivated by increasing their bottom line.

If $ wasn’t the primary motivator then they would reduce the price of the phone for what the brick costs and then offer it as an add on buy so the consumer isn’t out more money and they are still doing something for the environment.

"You'll want to make sure to buy a 20W charger as it doesn't include come with your purchase. It makes charging the phone/watch must faster and they older chargers won't do that." - Every Apple employee for every phone I've purchased since they stopped including chargers.

I kid, but they do push buying them like crazy now, at least at my local store.
So glad they removed them to save the environment. Now for our corporate clients who order iPhones, we have to ship them a separate package with a charger in it, because enterprise customers also don't get the charger. They even repackaged the iPhone 11 boxes and removed the charger.

Lol wow what a great win for Earth!!

That free long hair and cool loose sweater in the middle of a production plant though.

??

That’s a good point. She does look very familiar and how is she working inside a factory with no protective gear. Not even glasses??? ?
She’s obviously wearing safety contacts.

I’ve been in many a manufacturing facility where welders, drill press operators, etc. are not wearing proper safety gear. Not saying it’s right, but it does happen…
