My "About" information says 4.4

I check for an update, download the update. It appears it is updating. Apple TV 2 restarts and I have to re enter all my information.

I go to "About" information and it says 4.4
There is also an entry for ACTIVATION: failed.

I check for an update and Apple TV 2 says there is an update.

I say the heck with it. Looks like Apple still has issues.

One special note. Not sure if this was on the Apple TV 2 before but, when it rebooted some lady was talking from the Apple TV. I was stunned and did not catch what she was saying.

Someone help me out here...

Now it says "AirPlay Mirroring". Is this AirPlay as we already know it, where we can only show Video, Photos, and cooperating Apps on the TV?

OR...

Is it actual Mirroring, where we can now see our iPhone 4S and iPads on the TV completely, as if we were using the Digital AV Adapter and we can see EVERYTHING we do on the phone???
Yes, Mirroring everything on the iPad 2 / iPhone 4S.

So to make sure we're on the same page... I can now AirPlay onto the TV what I'm doing as I'm Browsing the internet, clicking on icons, etc., etc?

I could've saved myself the time of buying a Digital AV Adapter last night! I planned on returning it today, just because there were too many wires involved, and I could've saved myself the trouble of returning this on my lunch break!

Neither 4.4 or 4.4.1 would install on my device. 4.4.2 finally installed!
After it installed and restarted it did say "Activation Failed" but that went away after I played a TV show.

for those people who don't have the silver remote anymore, and use just the remote app, how do you work apple TV when your server is down, wifi is out, something gets reset, etc??

Remote app doesn't work if its not connected to the wifi network...

Bought an Apple TV yesterday for Airplay Mirroring and I guess this is what I was updated to. The unit came with 4.3, so no reset was needed.

Was sitting here waiting for it to finish updating, then I hear "WELCOME TO APPLE TV" blasting from my speakers.

Apple please turn off that automatic speaking. Almost gave me a heart attack.

Interestingly I didn't have that issue…

Use the up arrow. It pops up a window.

Sorry, while "Watching" Netflix, hit the up arrow a few times. That was on 4.4

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks. It was probably in the manual that I didn't read...or the update release notes that I didn't read.

Sad.

good dl

Neither did I :-=)

Finally gave it another shot after lunch. 4.4.2 installed and remembered all my settings. Nice.

Updated to 4.4.2, it wiped my settings. Still missing the feature to remove stuff I don't want. WSJ, MLB.TV aren't required - but they are taking up space.

/edit actually it updated to 4.4 - now updating again to what I guess is 4.4.2

/edit 2 update to 4.4.2 works o.k. :)

I disagree - this is a VERY small thing considering it may help the visually-impaired immediately. Sounds like you just needed to turn down your speakers a tad ;)

That's all well and fine if you actually have an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad.

+1. I don't want to spend £170 for a tiny iPad Touch keyboard.

The ATV already has a USB port. Would be great if I could just connect one of my spare keyboards with an adapter. (Maybe I can. Has anyone tried this?????)

Every few days, my internet connection drops out for few minutes. When this happens, the ATV decides my password isn't any good and asks me to reenter it. Really annoying.

Searching YouTube is really annoying.

Searching anything is really annoying.

just get the Remote app for your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad and use the keyboard from there. I dont even know where my aluminum remote is anymore, because the Remote app is so good and works really well. I couldn't stand entering in text with the included remote

That's fine if the Apple TV is ALREADY set up. I think the issue is that all settings have been erased, and there is a need to re-enter the wi-fi settings, etc. The Remote app doesn't help if it can't see the Apple TV.

Okay, so here's the thing...

It DOESN'T completely mirror my iPhone 4S. It also says it only does it for the iPad 2. That sucks. I hope they add Complete AirPlay Mirroring for the iPhone 4S.

What do you mean by completely mirror? It mirrors just like the iPad 2 with the iPhone 4S.

This content requires HDCP for playback (HDCP back on again in 4.4.2)

Found out what Apple "fixed" ...

Using an old Samsung TV set (Samsung LE32S71BX/XEE connected via HDMI). Before update to 4.4, Airplay from my Mac does not work. This content requires HDCP for playback. I have another device (Humax HDPVR) that have same issue with the TV set.

After update to 4.4, Airplay is working. I am so happy that Apple is fixed the issue :D

Now after update to 4.4.2, it looks like HDCP is turned on again. This content requires HDCP for playback. No more Airplay until I get a new TV set.

Anyone have same issue with 4.4.2?
