With the ATV2 update, Apple has once again been deceptively vague as to what they fixed.

So has anyone noticed what stability and bug fixes Apple made in the new update?

I'm hoping it fixes the
"An error occurred loading this content. Try again later."
error.

I was getting this every few days on both Netflix and locally streamed content from my MacBook Pro. Once I got it, nothing would play until I reset the ATV. In fact, I found the new ATV update by chance when I was restarting my ATV due to the error again!

Safari feels snappier.

Sorry, no one else said it. I had to throw it in. :)

Ok, to get back on track, I upgraded to 4.4.4, hopefully it will fix the (rare, thankfully) error of "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." from my MBP to ATV2 without a ATV reboot.

I'll wait on 5.0.2 or 5.1, one build number isn't critical for me! :)

This update cleared up my issue

Over the past couple of weeks I had, for lack of a better description, interference between my iPhone and my Apple TV. This update fixed this issue. I was just contemplating starting the trouble shooting process.

Updated this morning, now seeing a TV Shows and Music tab, which I wasn’t seeing before. However I also enabled iTunes Match this morning, so that could possibly be the cause. It’s new for me.

Apple TV software 4.4.3 was released last month and added support for Netflix streaming in Mexico and an audio output issue when the connected television set is turned off.

Funnily enough this error persisted for me this morning anyway. Maybe they broke it again.

Didn't spot anyone mentioning it yet so just to add, I just updated my Apple TV to the new release and gained the TV Shows and Music tabs (I'm in the UK). Similarly today iTunes added TV Shows to past purchases in iTunes for the UK.

Fix for iPhone 4S signal problems

Since I got my new iPhone 4S some days ago, I've been really frustrated with the signal problems, no sim card or invalid sim card errors, to the point I was going to return it to the US for a replacement, and I live in Colombia, South America, so for me returning an iPhone is a painfull process, it can take like a month or two and I have to pay the shipment costs. Yesterday I read about this new iOS 5.0.1 build so I thought maybe this was the last chance to get a fix for the problem that basically make my iPhone an iPod. I did a full restore downloading the complete 5.0.1 firmware from iTunes, no OTA updates or anything like that. Then I restored the iPhone from my backup, and for my surprise all the problems disappeared. Now it is working perfectly. I don't know if it has to do with this new 5.0.1 build but for me was the ultimate solution, now my iPod 4S is again an iPhone 4S.

Apple TV update observations

No longer seem to be getting errors in netflix. Also even though they say no new features the netflix app does have a new Just For Kids menu which as a parent is awesome, and brings this version up to par with the website. Good update all around, and glad that I am no longer getting errors with some netflix content.

Netflix in Mexico - streaming issues.

I use my Apple TV to stream Netflix and it is a pain to watch a movie, specially in the evenings. The buffering occurs every less than a minute, it is impossible to watch a movie. I've called Netflix support, they could not help. I've searched the internet and it seems to be an issue in The United States too. I wonder whose fault is this, Apple's, Netflix, ISP?.

There is no question, Netflix runs much better overall on a PS3 than on the ATV2.

I don't have a clear explanation as to the why, but it is demonstrable and repeatable.

I had to downgrade to 4.4.3 to get Netflix working properly. The lesson I learned, if things are working for you, never upgrade unless absolutely necessarily.

Netflix has vastly improved for me over the last few months. I think part of their problems recently have been related to feverishly adding subtitles to movies and tv shows, so much so that the summary pages for many movies have not been updated to reflect the fact that the movie is now subtitled. On a random check recently at least 75% of the shows that I checked that did not show subtitles in the summary did indeed have them. I am very glad to see this (and the :apple:TV2 support for this feature) since my wife is Korean and the subtitles really help her immensely.
