Materials

ALL constructions materials from within the city limits of Cupertino? That seems...damn near impossible.

The purchase has to be made from an office located in Cupertino.

The materials don't have to come from Cupertino.

This makes it sound like walking outside across the courtyard is an impossible task...

Hard to tell the scale, but seems like a pretty long walk, even across the middle. A few football fields with diameter perhaps? This building just seems like the office version of Steve's yacht. Too much focus on the leaves, not enough on the forest.

Sadly Cupertino is becoming one of those towns everyone works in but can't afford to live in. The rest of us will now be stuck with 13,000 more commuters jamming our freeways on our way to work.

Anybody knows if they are going to build a swimming pool ?
Oracle has a great one (25meter x 5 lanes), tough to beat.

Isn't that where Ellison parks his yacht.

I don't really understand the design of this building. It just seems like form over function. How does Joe from Hardware Design at the bottom get over to Melissa in the Art department at the top without walking around that gigantic circle? You'd think there would be spokes on that wheel, or a monorail or something. It just seems very inefficient and a bit imposing.

Or maybe he just walks directly across the court yard, why would anyone walk round the outside. In this respect a circle is a pretty efficient design.

Just can't help thinking about the Nortels, Newbridges and other companies of the late 90s early 2000s that were hiring anything that moved. Their fall had significant repercussions in Silicon Valley North for years.

I think you missed the point. According to the consultant, Apple pays $9.2 million in local taxes and consumes $1.2 million in services. With the surplus expected to increase to $11 million after construction is completed.

Are you saying that some people give more than they get back?

SHOCKING.

I would bet there were more than a few years where Apple received more than it gave in taxes.

Apple seems to have desensitized us to what used to be shockingly large numbers. :D

Looks like Joe will have too use FaceTime? BOOM!
