Just to provide a little more info on the "I invented the internet" thing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_gore#1999_CNN_interview

A poor choice of words, for sure. As previously stated, Gore's role in the internet was pretty much to provide the fundings to move it from the college geeks to the every-man. Without him, we might have to get our porn from the gas station, still.

For those who get cross-eyed reading through some of this, here is the statement made.

But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

Depending on your perspective one could say he is very well claiming that. Last I checked though statements like this are the norm for just about any politician.

The thing is, it's a true statement. 100% true.

It's also true that the US Defense Department created the Internet.

Can't people consider an issue on its own merits rather than a guilt by association mentality?

No. Such a thing would completely undermine the two-party system. Which is why we have Evangelical Christians allied with big business, and anarchists like me are voting for the admittedly wimpy Democratic party.

Wait, so no one with any political connections from either party should be allowed to sit on any boards of directors?

You guys do realize that most major companies have people on their boards or in their executive offices who have some political affiliation or connection?

I'd understand that someone new to the English language would be confused by Gore's statement, as for the rest of you... ;)

Also, I'll try to find the site again, but someone out there had a site that showed all the connections of the various board of directors with one another, some of the connections were really interesting.

I wonder why that would be  (Not aimed at you mactastic)

It's like the mob, these folks are "connected" to folks currently in office on both sides of the aisle.
