Also, it would be nice if Apple provided at least a small point update to 10.13.4 in the interim, to at least provide support for Messages in iCloud, because all the other OSes has that support now. Really silly and sloppy, IMHO.

Current macOS .4 release works fine with iOS enabled messages in the cloud. There is literally no difference in the user experience. Messages appear across all devices exactly the same. When iMessage in the Cloud is enabled whenever .5 is released. It wil free up some space on your Mac. That’s it. It will still to all intents and purposes be the the same experience. You get a text. It appears on all devices.

Yeah, except the one thing that has always been missing - syncing deletion. That's what we've all been waiting for, but yes, besides that it will be largely the same.

That’s fair. But just wanted to point out for everyone losing their minds thinking it will break the way it currently works without 10.3.5 that it works as well as it ever has currently.

If it’s true they’ve pulled Mac references from documentation and it isn’t in the .6 beta it may be pulled from fro macOS entirely for the time being.
[doublepost=1527796558][/doublepost]Can anyone confirm the 10.13.6 beta does not have iMessage in the cloud??

That would be such *********. I've been waiting so long for this feature so that my messages app on my Mac doesn't need to continue to stack up old messages I don't need. Its annoying to have to manually clean messages out on 3 devices (iPhone, MacBook, Mac mini).

Hopefully the release with it for macOS comes soon. I'd be incredibly disappointed if it doesn't.

10.13.6 DOES have iCloud Messages.

I think it's clear Apple have held 10.13.5 due to a significant bug or as others have suggested, waiting till new Macs have been announced at WWDC next week.

Does anyone think 5 was working towards fusion support and dropped going to 6 to address other issues? Just a wild guess. Based on the other posts in this thread it seems likely that it's something to do with cloud messages... And Craig said "soon" for fusion support but in Apple lingo, soon is further off than I'd like.

I hope one of these releases fixes this damn signpost_notificationd 0 is not a valid connection ID error. Console keeps spamming this at about 4-5 times per second. It’s not really degrading performance but I would just like it to gone.

No. If APFS is going to support fusion disks it will be in some 10.14 release.

yet still no 10.13.5 release o_O

Sweet! But where's 10.13.5 :(

Not sure what the hold up is on 10.13.5. Rumors are swirling they are holding it untill wwdc because it contains support for new hardware that will be announced on Monday. With that said, it's strange nobody has picked up new hardware references in the beta build so it's anybody's guess...

very odd indeed... even with no official explanation from apple as to the where abouts of .5 wonder if upgrading to .6 beta will bring cloud messages to Mac or is it missing there?

Link, please?

hmmm, you may be correct there, it may actually be delayed due to a bug or:

So, with this change in apple support documentation, I would guess 10.13.5 is delayed, I don't expect it this week at all, even though they have done some Friday OS releases, not looking for it.

Can’t believe 10.13.5 didn’t drop today.

Me too! hopefully its because its hiding lots of new Mac models for Monday.

Would it not be better for Apple to return to a two year macOS release cycle to ensure stability of the platform similar to it was two years between OS X 10.3 Panther>10.4 Tiger>10.5 Leopard>10.6 Snow Leopard>10.7 Lion.

I wish Apple would use either 18 months or 2 yrs not only for macOS but all their OS’s, they need to work issues out before release, I’m feeling like a beta tester these last 2 OS cycles, and I’m not on the beta program.

...Also, I haven’t updated to high Sierra because Apple hasn’t given utility app developers full APFS documentation, so they can’t do anything to APFS drives...plus I keep hearing about issues.

And announcing features a year before you can implement them is not the Apple way. Just work on the features and put them in the next upgrade instead of trying and then taking it out...I’m not a dev, but that has to be causing more problems.

I suspect it might be tricky when Google are maintaining a 1 year cadence between major Android releases for Apple to back down. It could look like taking a step backwards, even though personally I think the industry as a whole might benefit from a pause. It would give everyone time to reflect on what they're doing. A 2 year cadence between major releases would definitely allow for a more stable experience earlier in the release cycle and longer overall in a stable configuration.
