I turned it off so quick on iOS. No one is missing much, IMO.
Yeah found it of non interest, Playground, ChatGPT, Genmoji also of little value or interest. So I turned Apple Intelligence off and my battery life went back to normal it had made it double even with not using much of the Ai just being in background doubling battery use. No thanks gonna pass on this beta as well nothing of interest now that my battery life went back to normal with official iOS and iPadOS release of 18.2

Only people who know how to recover from backup should install this beta as the next one will likely be after the New Year.

Unless there’s a brand new feature ima stay on this 18.2 chu heard!
EXACTLY! That's why I'm still on 17.7.2. 😄

iOS 18 doesn't have much for the 13, and everything is working as good as can be expected. Don't wake the sleeping baby...

Hopefully it’s stable enough for a few weeks lol
These Betas are becoming regular releases for some regular users.

I think Apple is now making it too easy for users to install, and MacRumors is pushing the Betas a bit too much IMO.

I’m on the skipping it for now train with all the x.3 betas be it iOS, iPadOS, Sonoma, watchOS and VisionOS.

As other have pointed out battery life for me is solid on all of my devices and I’ve seen nothing of value in the x.3 betas to chance it.

I’m sure we’ll see a continued roll out of Apple Intelligence features through out the 18.3 beta cycle but I’m wondering exactly how much will be visible and immediately useful to beta testers versus how much will be under the hood until 18.4 later in 2025. We’ll see but there’s certainly not enough there now to upgrade to a beta release when the devs probably won’t be seriously working on it next week or the following week giving the upcoming holidays.

That’s a long time to wait if there is a problem and for what exactly? Genmoji on a Mac? I don’t find Genmoji useful on any device. It’s the second coming of Animoji. Remember that? Fun for about a week once the version that supported it hit GA. 😉

Consider not upgrading. The developers will be gone in the next days or so. That means if there is a bad bug or other problems that make it hard to use the phone or app, a beta update that may or may not address potential problems won't be out until mid to late January.
💯 this. I always turn off beta updates after the final public release in December for this very real reason.

Very surprised this still doesn't include the new Mail features for iPadOS or macOS. I wonder what catastrophic thing went wrong with that feature for them to fall so far behind on it.
I'm not. While the column type UI makes perfect sense for reading mail on your phone, the landscape orientation of iPads and Macs requires a different approach. Based on clues in Help in some of the macOS 15.2 betas, it looks like they were trying a 'filter' based approach, but I'd bet it didn't fare well with usability testers.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was pushed out to 18.4 (maybe it was always planned that way) and comes back as a personal context aware feature, or something more akin to the more flexible ML method used to categorize, group, tag and search for photos.

Luckily, I think there is still a downgrade path to 18.2...
You probably know this, but for everyone else. You can download the 18.2 IPSW. Plug phone into laptop. Open iTunes / the finder tab where you'd access your phone to update it. Hold alt (win) or 'Option' (Mac) while clicking 'update'. This will let you select the 18.2 IPSW file you downloaded, and install it without losing any of your data.

It's down entirely to your carrier at this point. Mine started working a few weeks ago (Three UK)
Yes am fully aware that’s the case! Most operators even tho they could push carrier updates independently of software updates don’t hence why I asked!

Waiting for the AirPods Pro update to enable Canadian hearing aid feature. Hoping this means it’s coming sooner than we thought! *said to be enabled next update*

Are there any news YET re this update?

i.e. what is included in it?

Yeah, I'm wondering that too. I turned off the dev beta and public beta and haven't logged in to look because I've had too much else happening. There is little that would get me to update to it at this point right before the holidays. :)

I haven't found a single new thing, which is a bit surprising given the vast amount of stuff they have just pushed out to "whenever". I guess there's Genmoji in macOS. Cool. The two people who really needed to create a cartoon poo with a cowboy hat on should be happy.
