Still running Big Sur and Monterey with one straggler (2012 15” rMBP) on Catalina. Haven’t wanted to dip my toe in yet. I still don’t like the Settings/System Preferences rework. This may the first version that gets completely skipped since El Crapitan.
So unsupported Mac becomes an argument. I had the same SSD with 16 Gb RAM model, but traded it away for a 16 2021 MBP, and after 9 years it barely was able to run games unless you like a space heater, and browser so slow to use it’s painful. Ventura is so fast comparatively on a M1 Mac its hard to think about that being adequate specially going towards the future. Whatever you buy will have Vantura. :)

Did you first try:
Turning file sharing off, rebooting, then turning file sharing back on?

Another noted this more involved steps:
Once I turned my iMac off, and back on, File Sharing started not working again. That means that I have to turn off File Sharing before turning the computer off, and turn File Sharing on after turning the computer on for File Sharing to work.
Oh yeah, let's reboot the computer for every file copy.

Yes, I also like Catalina. On Monterey as well (desktop, mac mini, mba m2).

Incredible. Did you change the battery ?

My 2014 rMBP had a badly swollen battery. I threw it out when I couldn't get an official Apple battery during the COVID lockdowns.

Do not understand all this stupid comments. Ventura is the best macOS I have ever used in the last 15 years. Stable and reliable. I guess that people want just to be cool in complaining and writing childish comments.

Try it. It is really good (as it was from the very early betas).
Depends on what software you use, I guess. Ventura has broken compatibility with so many audio plugins from across all developers, small and big, and some plugins still dont’t work. Yes, it’s up to developers to make sure that their plugins are updated according to Apple’s OS guidelines, but for those of you who may not be aware: Apple breaks plugin compatibility every single year with every new MacOS release, and developers have to catch up every year, probably because Apple constantly changes how plugins must be programmed/implemented.But Ventura has been particularly bad, and among music producers strong advise is to not upgrade to Ventura. Heck, you can’t even buy a new Mac and make it work with your existing studio plugins - for instance, plugins from Plugin Alliance are not yet compatible with Ventura.

Any chance Stage manager is going to get some rework?
There is no information concerning MacOS 14 changes/feature. Perhaps something will dribble out when some WWDC sessions are announced. Safari continues to show possible AV1 playback that MacOS provide in future, something that Netflix and YouTube could utilize.

@Think77 Yes, there are maybe some reasons to stay with an older version. But as you said I believe that some developers are a little bit lazy. If you sell something take care of it.

But however there is no reason to complain in general about the quality of Ventura. It works rock solid on my M1 MacBook Pro.

Battery is original…it doesn’t last very long and does need to be replaced. That’s my next project along with OCLP to install Monterey or Ventura on the machine.

MacBook Pro 16 2019 ( i9 / 16GB / 1TB )

After 13.3 update the same problems/issues/bugs...

1. After restarting and opening Mail.app, it doesn't show Favorites bar. (most of the times)
2. Preview icons in third-party apps like PDF Expert is not displayed
3. The Eject buttons for external disks is misplaced in Finder
4. Stack photos in iMessage when you open to Preview them, there is a "ghosting"

Can you please check if there are also in 13.4?

From where I sit coming from 40 years of Microsoft OS's. With a Mac Studio my first Apple computer since 1984 these comments are amusing to me. Everyday Windows is an adventure, after "patch Tuesday" it is often a disaster. I was telling a friend of mine about this Mac Studio it is the most boring computer I have ever used. This is the highest compliment I can give one of these Demon Familiars, it just works. The only thing I have going now is where does macOS do things, I am checking those off one at a time.

I fondly remember how window 10 users think they can just reboot when a critical update is being silently applied and their PC workstation is running slow. Both incidents made users non bootable, requiring a full windows install, to latest SP, and hours restoring applications, data.

Apple updates clearly show what’s going on, and prevents user from that situation. A external ASR backup on external storage using Migration Assistant fully restores the MacOS computer to last backup state of operation.

Now against the MacOS 13.4 beta 1 it’s a breeze to do a full restore regarding how everything is working. Yes a DFU restore and ASR migration still takes a 1 to 4 hours but it is really boring in comparison. ;)

I was left slack jawed early on with this Mac Studio. I am not exactly a nood with Apple, you can see in my list below all of the iOS stuff I have had over the years. 1st it was when I setup the Mac Studio. made the connections powered it up, and my iPhone had a popup that it had detected it, did I want to continue, I tapped it to continue and I watched in utter astonishment as the iPhone setup the Mac Studio. Next I was loading applications that I used on the PC on to the Studio. One of them was Google Earth. I was totally gobsmacked when I started the download and install. A popup notified me that Google had detected a Mac computer, that it was downloading and configuring Rosetta. It did that and finished loading Google Earth, I was stunned.

M1 or Intel mac? I have a 2019 i9 mbp still on monterey
What you mean by "better"? Genuinely interested.
iMac retina 47-inch Intel (late 2017). I meant that now it is faster and so far (albeit I installed it five days ago) have not experienced some issues that I had with Monterey, like kernel panics, dock not working (had to force quit it to work after booting sometimes), etc. As said, so far, so good. And System Settings has also its advantages in relation to System Preferences. One tip is to search for keywords, to quickly find what you are looking for.

13.3 broke quicklook. Is it fixed in 13.4 Beta 1? To break it, open a few gifs with quicklook.
