Freeform app seems cool. Unsure how much I will use it but it seems decent.

If I click the share button though it seems to think I’m not signed into iCloud. It takes me to settings where I am in fact signed into iTunes so I can’t share, assuming that’s a restriction in the beta .
Same thing is happening for me.

Don't bother. There is a strong WFH bias from some people. They believe WFH means slacking off all day watching TV and playing video games. As if someone could stay employed that way. They also act like the software and hardware was perfect before WFH became a bigger thing. They are personally too irresponsible to work remotely and be productive (therefore stay employed) so they project that onto all others.
I’m about to start a WFH job and I’m thrilled. That’s less time in traffic and less money spent on gas. I can sleep in a little later too!

And they probably believe that code reviews, QA, and progress tracking were abolished when WFH started.
Other people/departments relying on specific code and complaining when it’s not delivered on time in an acceptable state stopped being a thing, too.

And you'll be just as productive as in-office, heck possibly MORE productive.
Yep. I work longer hours and do shorter lunch breaks since I started WFH because I’m in an environment I enjoy working in, without commute, without constant distractions, without the inevitable sick colleagues coming in despite clearly not being fit to work…

I had to toggle the app itself on on my phone/iPad; Settings -> Cloud acct -> iCloud -> (Apps using iCloud) Show All -> scroll down, toggle Freeform ON

Boards sync between phone/iPad/Mac and are shareable eg via iMessage

Thank you! Toggling on Freeform was all that was needed.

Apple today seeded the first betas of upcoming iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates to public beta testers, opening up the software to the general public. Today's beta comes one day after Apple provided the beta to developers.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple's free beta testing program can download the ‌iOS and iPadOS 16.‌2 betas over the air after installing the proper certificate from the Public Beta website.

iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 introduce the Freeform app, which can be used for jotting down notes, sketching, drawing, brainstorming ideas, creating mood boards, and more. Multiple people can work on the same Freeform board, with changes synced for all participants in real time.

For the iPad, the update brings external display support to the Stage Manager multitasking feature, allowing up to eight apps to be used at once. External display support is available for the M1 and M2 iPad models.

There is a new Home app architecture coming in iOS and iPadOS 16.2, which Apple says is designed to bring faster, more reliable performance, especially in homes with a lot of smart home accessories. The new architecture requires the HomePod 16.2 beta software, and it causes the Home app not to work with devices updated to iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS Ventura 13.1.

Unintentional Emergency SOS calls can be reported to Apple in iOS 16.2, and there are a few other minor changes that can be found in our iOS 16.2 feature guide.

When should we expect for this update to release? Does anyone know?

Nice copy of the crappy Microsoft Whiteboard app.
The latter is another electron-based behemoth like Teams, with similar feel and performance plus some annoying bugs and dubious design choices (two clicks and a pulldown menu, and another click to change pencil color)
Go go go FreeForm.

They have more than enough resources to release bug-free software as often as they release updates. They just won't do it.

The emphasis is clearly on new features rather than bug fixes. I'm not sure they actually can release relatively bug-free software anymore on the schedule they've set themselves on for new features. They really do need another Snow Leopard year.

Since updating to 16.2 most of my wemo modules have disconnected; and cannot be re-added to homekit or wemo despite module resets and reboots. Modules simply will not connect. Can I assume this is all caused by 16.2?

The Music app has Play Most Recent and Play My Station options from haptic press. I don’t recall these being there before. I remember being surprised in the past that one of Apple’s own apps didn’t have haptic offerings.

Yep. It takes discipline. I've been full-time remote since before the pandemic, first as a contractor, then full-time, and since promoted to a first-line manager. My last two all-nighters were while WFH, one of which enabled the on-time release of one of the most popular game franchise spinoffs in history. All but two of my reports are remote, too, and my team is held up as one of the higher functioning teams in the studio.

I’m about to start a WFH job and I’m thrilled. That’s less time in traffic and less money spent on gas. I can sleep in a little later too!

Congratulations!

Yep. Your commute is less than a minute each way, your lunch break is a walk to the kitchen, your coffee break is a walk to the kitchen...

Yes, there are downsides: some amount of socialization is lost, and company morale events are "interesting" when they are available as hybrid events, and just plain missed when they are not. Overall, it's been worth it to me to be able to live where I want to live instead of slogging through a 45-minutes-or-more commute from an overpriced suburban house.

Seriously! Even prior to the pandemic, a multi-campus, nationwide or international organization was already forced to do much of this work "in the cloud." Crikey--I've done PR reviews from my phone, while waiting for a doctor's appointment.

This, too!

So when you first turn on the screen, it seems to sometimes give a brief appearance of the old-style line of battery charge, above the time display, before the date-line replaces it. But sometimes it doesn't, and you only get the date-line. Is it when you're below a certain charge level?

Is anyone else experiencing the wallpaper preview when trying to set a new “still” wallpaper via the settings app being black?

And the “depth” effect seems to be gone as well. It’s no longer got that parallax movement when moving the iPad :(

I'm getting an error downloading this.

"Software Update Failed. An error occurred downloading iPadOS 16.2 Public Beta"

It's a new M2. My M1 doesn't show the error, so it's an M2 thing. Wonderful.

note: plenty of space. And I'm betting it's all the new ones, as I'm just probably the first. Maybe not.
Same issue here on M2. Works fine on M1.
