Apple Releases First watchOS 7.4 Public Beta With iPhone Unlocking Feature

Does this only work with devices that have FACE ID? or does it also work with devices that use TOUCH ID? My iphone 8+ doesn't seem to be able to enable either, on phone or watch to try this out.

Ever MORE seamless and frictonless. I use AW to unlock my MacBook pro and that has touchID.. Also, I think a lot of this enhancement is to better and more easily enable phone unlock while wearing a face mask. I OFTEN have the same problem with touchID after having just used some hand sanitizer or even after washing hands - something apple is directly encouraging and helping AW users do better.. why not just make this a phone unlock option for authenticated Apple Watch wearers for any device at this point?

I would just be thrilled if my Apple Watch would unlock my Mac like it used to, and like Apple claims it does.

After three months of online support, still no fixes.

mine unlocks instantaneous and always has!

I tried it, then turned it off. Couldn’t they have at lease programmed it to use the top have of your face with faceid and the watch. It unlocks for anyone and all you have to do is cover your mouth. Cover your mouth with anything…

Mine works great every time. Series 6 and M1 MBA.

Can't wait until I pull out my iPhone that waits for a response from my Apple Watch only to fail after 5 seconds like my MacBook does.
