I have a few month old BTO 27" i7 iMac. Usually patches are mostly harmless. This one less so than any other for me:
> The last 3-4 builds, it "black screens" and won't finish OS updates unless I start in safe mode. At least I'm used that now if annoying.
> When it does reboot after restarting in safe mode, it has this slow weird video glitch for about 30 seconds where it only paints a few scan lines at a time, but when it goes through a few screen refreshes, it seems normal again, and normal after reboot - sensing some video driver issues.
> More disturbing is on this last update, it killed my sound completely. Thinks I have no computer speakers or something. ** Edit ** After another reboot, sound came back.
> Got some kind of graphics driver issue in Photoshop CS6, but still seems to work - killed hardware acceleration or something (?)
> Also the UI seems more sluggish in Safari, and it looks like its trying to be clever with fade in/fade out kind of thing, but just makes it feel slow instead.

I downgraded from 10.11.3 to 10.10.5. iTunes wouldn't pop up the login prompt at all after a while on El Crapstain, meaning I couldn't buy music or apps after initial authorization and sign in, and eventually syncing stopped working. Tried 2 clean installs, with both eventually make iTunes unusable.

In addition, CS6 performed much worse than in Yosemite--especially Photoshop.

it is *possible that you amy have other issues tan the patches not working out right themselves; have you tried etrecheck?

Any idea what's the build number? Thanks.
15E49a

Sound is back after another reboot, and Safari seems normal now. CS6 didn't error on last reboot either.. so looks like just minor annoyances remain (black screen on initial boot up after update, and the video glitch on first patching)

Hadn't heard of that before.. Downloaded and running... I think it was incomplete system setup.. couple more reboots and stuff seems to be ok. The initial black screen and video glitching and having to safe boot happens every release still though...

if you have the time just do a clean install of 10.11.4 when it comes out probably some time in the next two weeks? Should get rid of your troubles? Also try and installing combo updates next u

I have held off upgrading to El Capitan and currently am still using Yosemite on a MBPro. Anyone using El Capitan on MBPro with:

Photoshop CS4
Illustrator CS4
Excel 2008

Those are my primary applications that I worry about compatibility with when upgrading. I don't want to upgrade to Adobe and Microsoft's subscription based versions of the programs - the ones I own do the work I need just fine.

The other more minor things I use are:
MenuMeters - not supported officially in El Capitan but I have read of a work around 1.9
DejaVu
Fantastical 1.3.9
CarbonCopyCloner
GraphicConverter
Panorama360
Acrobat Pro 9 Pro
OmniOutliner 3.10.5
Fetch 5.7.5

I would be interested in reports of compatibility.
I have been using the beta releases and can say that all the applications are working fine!

Damit! That means a new version of Server is due... and that means another £15 for the exact same piece of software with no new features or bug fixes, just a revised build number to make it compatible.

Yeah. I think there is a noticable new wifi instability in beta 4 compare to beta 3. It's not a major problem. I just disconnect the wifi and then reconnect and it seems OK after that. It is becoming annoying though to have to do it as often as I have to now with beta 4.

My experience was worst, my wifi connection drops frequent and It was unbearable to use. I decided to downgrade my OS X 10.114 to 10.11.3.

New Beta still hasn't fixed the problem of linking the USB Apple Superdrive to rMBP - it's still necessary to reboot the Mac with the Superdrive plugged in to get it to work - can't just plug the Superdrive in to a running system.

I think I wrote this in the dev thread by mistake. Photoshop beachballing has gone away which makes me super happy, I was worried that Adobe suddenly decided a 2015 MBA with 8 GB RAM was too slow to, like, edit text on a small file with three layers total.

Did the update for having Beta4 installed. Again, like for Beta3 there is no sign of the update being done in the App Store app, update tab. Annoying? No, as long as the update is installed. The About this Mac shows the latest version number so its ok.
Two days later, now Friday morning it DID show up in the installed updates list. Strange but ok. Just after I responded to Apple Feedback team that the issue was not resolved! And the feedback tool does not offer the possibility to add additional comments to an earlier raised issue.

all betas generally warn of USB problems. why run the betas if you know you're gonna hit these problems ?
