Definitely never heard of this. If it’s really coming from two, I would suspect something external like a power supply issue.Hopefully this fixes the random "buzzing" from both of my Studio Displays.

Mine buzzed on occasion. I returned my first and then the second screen I got also did the same thing. I have since found out that an electric car charging in another building created so much interference on the electrical grid that it caused the screen to buzz. We managed to confirm this by actually stopping and starting the charging process on that car. I had no idea this could cause such problems but the buzzing drove me so mad that I did a really thorough investigation into this. This was a Renault ZOE which has an inverter that creates a lot of "dirty electricity". If you Google it, you can find out a lot of complaints about it. Maybe there is something similar going on there?Definitely never heard of this. If it’s really coming from two, I would suspect something external like a power supply issue.
Maybe try moving one of the displays to a different room on a different circuit, and try using? And then if there's no buzzing, bring the other screen in and try that as well? If everything sounds normal, you may need to bring in someone to look at your wiring.
Maybe Apple is trying to tune the buzzing to be in the same key as the whistling sound from the Mac Studio.Hopefully this fixes the random "buzzing" from both of my Studio Displays.
Apple used to allow it, it was called Target Display Mode but they discontinued it with the introduction of the 5K models. This apparently has something to do with iMacs using custom display timing controllers to drive the 5K display at 60Hz (something that was technically challenging when the models first came out) which a guest computer wouldn’t be able to utilize.Wish there was an easy way to convert my iMac Pro to an external display and hub...bummer
keep us updated!Hopefully this fixes the random "buzzing" from both of my Studio Displays.
Mac Studio is not dead silent?Maybe Apple is trying to tune the buzzing to be in the same key as the whistling sound from the Mac Studio.![]()
There were a number of early reports of Mac Studios fans that have a whistle sound and some buyers returned them for that reason.Mac Studio is not dead silent?
You forgot to mention the very bad black levels. The blacks look grey. Why does the imac with a built in computer have better blacks? They try to hide it by preventing the display from turning on until the last minute where u don’t notice it.I hope this fixes the camera once and for all. I just cannot understand why the camera is so bad when there is enough physical space to use a high quality one. Why not put an iPhone (or similar) camera in there? My 2015 5K iMac had a better camera (and speakers).
The ASD has good image quality with amazing resolution, but with the awful (and in my case, unusable) camera, light bleed in the corners (even if slight), the upsell for a height adjustable stand and so-so speakers for its size, it just remains one of Apple's underwhelming (and arguably over-priced) products.
The best feature of the ASD is its design and physical build quality (minus the pinched panels on most units causing slight light bleed at the corners - most likely a factory line issue). While the white balance is better than the 5K iMacs (literally the worst I've ever seen), it could still be better for a high-end display.
They should've thrown an M1 and WiFi in them, bumped the starting price up a bit and sold it as a 27" (non-pro) iMac. There'd still be room in the lineup for an iMac Pro (in Midnight or Space Gray) with an M2+ and a 30" display.
I know people scoff at the idea of a dongle, but ethernet is a much better option for internet connection for most people. It reduces latency significantly and eliminates unreliable connections. With that said it should be feasible to have the Studio Display operate like a standalone display where you can AirPlay to it if you wire it up, but I doubt Apple will ever enable that. How are you going to stream? The display doesn't have Wi-Fi or ethernet... Get a dongle?
The part where you wouldn't be sending Apple more money.dude so true, I wonder what about 5K made it impossible to do.
Sounds likely, two defective displays is just unlikely.Maybe there is something similar going on there?
