Can someone plz guide me I have 5 HomePods mini and 1 in stereo pair I down the update and it only updated one of the pair to 16.4 now all others stayed on 16.3.2 and it says they are all updated
I just removed mine from the pairing to see if i can get the other one to update by itself, think I’m gonna have to restart it first .

I found the "update everything" and went ahead. It didn't do anything until I put my iPhone on the same network as the HP's. The screen offered to update the Home architecture and my (5) HP's. 'Recently updated' shows 3 but they all show as 16.4

How can I determine that the Home app was updated? Everything appears the same as it was before.

I can no longer stream uploaded music directly on my HomePods. Perfect Apple with every update you breake something else.

I wish I could say OS 16.4 fixes all the stability issues Apple introduced last September in OS 16.0, but no, the experience is still very mediocre. Music stops randomly, HomePods are often struggling to connect to my Wifi network powered by a very powerful Netgear tri-band routers. Sometimes Siri says it cannot adjust the volume and other time Siri voice to change for another one from another country. The issues are very different, random, but they do happen every single day.

if you are still on OS 15, just don't upgrade. It’s s not worth it. I don't spend a single day without restarting all my HomePods.

Hopefully Apple will fix the OS before the end of 2023. It's by far the worst Apple product experience I had ever.

Anybody who upgraded to the new HomeKit architecture in December had the “configuring” issue fixed?

So far, I have not.

I updated each one separately by plugging in to my Mac and factory resetting.

Removed them from home and set them up new.

Setup went better and was promising, but now they are still stuck configuring and not showing up as stereo pair yet even though I did that during setup process.

Anybody else?
Hi Tyler,

Yes, I had similar issues to you during installation, and after installation. I didn’t restore all my HomePods to Factory settings plugged on my computer, but I did it for four of them. Now they are paired in stereo, but they still have weird random issues. It seems OS 16.4 is not the solution to all the bugs introduced in September 2022.

I’m still having trouble too. I reset them again and only set up 1. I was going to wait until it was working properly to set up the second and pair them. First one is configuring for over a day now…..

Unfortunately you might be right. Seems 16.4 may not be the solution I’ve been waiting on since December. 😞

I can’t do this anymore. Apple NEEDS to put in a progress bar for updates to HomePod. It’s ridiculous that I’m stuck waiting around for either a download OR installation to take place, yet I have no idea which one is taking place. At least put it in the Home app’s setting or something

16.4 still music skips pops or ticks at least a few times during one song. it cant even play one song properly. nearly one skip in every song i stream FLAC from my macbook pro 16.2 or iphone 14 PM. watching movies 4k hdr blueray rips. with infuse on the apple tv 2022 works oke dough. stereo pair homepod 2 here.

tried 2 differen ubnt access points both on 2.4 and 5ghz band problem stays no matter what.

there is something wrong with the software on these homepods 2's

They should just update automatically and on their own. Having to involve an iPhone in the whole process is absurd

It's starting to get better again. Still not perfect. Still hit and miss sometimes, especially in large scenes I sometimes receive that not all devices responded although in real life they did, but at least not as buggy as it all started since 16.0 - One thing that is really again so annoying the "Audible tone" that plays as confirmation instead of Siri saying "The scene is set" or "The light is turned on" in other rooms, like it used to. This is a mess up when it comes to experience design. Why would I be talking and receiving speech as responses and all of a sudden a confirmation which is theoretically one of the most important responses I get a beep instead? It doesn't feel natural, stabs the Siri experience in the heart tbh. Not to mention, the tone/beep is really hard to detect when it's noisy or when I've asked Siri in one room and was on the move to the other. At least there should be an option to choose if I want Siri to respond in speech or tone, just like the option that already exists that allow me to choose when I say Hey Siri if I should get an audible tone or Mmmhmm as a response.
Crossing my fingers not to have everything messed up again with the next update.
