My HomePod minis are currently packed away in moving boxes right now so I can’t check myself but… can anyone confirm whether or not this fixes “on it… just a sec… still working…” etc.?
I think that’s more of a Siri issue. I get that all too frequently on all my Apple devices.

The issue I’m referring to definitely isn’t just Siri in general. It might be a HomePod Siri issue but all my other Siri devices work absolutely fine 100% (or close to 100%) of the time. This is specific to HomePod and started on day 1 of iOS15. Lots of threads here and on Reddit echoing this.

I contacted Apple support a few months ago and eventually they confirmed this was a known issue but they had no timeframe for resolution. And now they’re ignoring my emails which is awesome.

I haven’t updated mine yet. However I noticed on Sunday that my OG HomePod stereo pair were doing this. I was on my way out for the day so didn’t have time to investigate. Then yesterday evening the mini stereo pair in the dining room were doing the same thing so I checked the stereo pair of minis I have in the kitchen and it was the same. I didn’t check the ones upstairs but assumed they wold also do it. I tried to reboot the ones in the dining room and kitchen but it made no difference. In the end i restarted my router and that did the trick. Not sure why as everything else was still working, iPads, iPhone, macs, echo speakers. It was just the homepods that were playing up.

Well, so far my wakeup automation (play selected radio station on my speakers via my AirPlay) didn't happen this morning, but the next one did. Almost overslept. Sure wish I could trust this 100%, since it's about oversleeping, etc.

Sadly, in my case even multiple reboots of everything failed to resolve the issue. It has plagued me for close to a year and at this point I question whether I will continue with HomeKit - or Apple - at all. It seems there are much better options out there now that Apple no longer cares.

The update has gone average so far.

Camera still detecting motion .. phew.

Siri seems to be behaving slightly better, with only one .. on it .. one minute ..

Still a few ‘not responding’ issues, but less.

I’m slightly optimistic that it might settle down and become usable….

I bought a Samsung Frame TV recently, and it just worked - looking at one of their monitors now…

Apple needs to pick up their game if I’m starting to wander (I have a @mac.com email and a Macintosh LC in the attic - old school)

Don't feel left out. Siri doesn't understand English either. Oh and often forgets who my wife is, sometimes won't recognize my grocery store list or Costco list. And needs to "show me it on my iPhone" for just about anything shy of what time is it and what's the weather going to be for today.
I'm with y'all. I love the sound, but I gave up on the "smart" features long ago. What I really wish is that Apple would still sell the Airport Express. Because the only usefulness I get out of my HomePods is when I stream to them, as I can't control what's playing on them with Siri. So any dumb speakers I can stream to with AirPlay would be fine.

Just updated my 7 HomePods (5 original and 2 mini) to 15.5.

No issues, superb sound, and Siri still works great controlling them.
Ditto. Except only 2 to update.

I’ve had almost no issues with my 2 OG HomePods Over the years
