It appears as if NO ONE needs it

I think I have spent too much time in efforts to determine why I was not able to install this iMac firmware update 1.0.2 - As far as I could tell NO ONE is able to install this thing. If anyone has any information contrary to that, please post it here and enlighten us.

If this firmware update applies to all users with the specified cards regardless of what their current firmware version is, then why is no one able to apply it.

If this firmware is only intended to specific iMac models / card version etc, then why the heck does apple not provide at least a minimal amount of information for everyone who has these cards.

Waaaay too little information and waaaay too much confusion.
Hello, im a MAC?

EDIT:
Softpedias website says:
"
Requirements:
· Mac OS X 10.4.10 with iMac Software Update 1.2.1
· Mac OS X 10.5 with iMac Software Update 1.3
· iMac (Mid 2007)
"

... apparently they know more than what I found on the apple info page regarding this firmware update.

I unpacked the 1.0.2 and 1.0.1 Update package from last year and found two IMG files in /Contents/Resources/ATIFacelessFlash.app/Contents/Resources/. These seem to be the firmware images.
The images from 1.0.2 and 1.0.1 are the same (same md5 sum), so either Apple has only updated the actual Updater or I'm totally wrong on this ;)
The 1.0.1 Update is only for early 2008 iMacs, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL71

Could still be some people who never updated, though dangling improved stability and yanking it away is a sick joke. ;)

re earlier FW update

Now that I think about it I tried applying that one too and it didn't go.

I have the exact model this is supposed to be applied to with rev. 01.00.259 and this won't apply.

Frustrating as I feel this might fix the SL 64-bit kernel bug I am experiencing.

Just curious, why does your chipset model differ and lack the 'pro'?
