If you dig into the installation package, you will find out that this update is dedicated to the iMac 12,1 model (iMac 21.5" from mid-2011), with ATI GPU firmware revision corresponding to 113-C2950K-178.

Welcome to the world of Apple. Apple usually always ignores all machines that are not the current models. If they release updates for older hardware, then it's usually an accident and not intentional.

I'm starting to see that.

Ah

Although i have to admit that Snow Leopard Graphics update was one heck of an update for my 2009 i7 machine, my framerates sometimes doubled when it came to OpenGL graphics. So they don't totally ignore ALL old machines.

And in some cases, why "fix" something that's not broken?

AGREED!!! & relieved x2!!

Will check mine now (Mid 2011 27") I am very careful now about what I install since the 10.7.3 debacle...

----------

Not applicable...I'm relieved really. Not having any issues so no update is good.

Geez...I am still feeling the after effects of that fiasco with the Lion 10.7.3 update! Unfortunately I was one of the 1st to have the CUI??? mess!!! :(....Luckily my Time Machine backup saved my butt!! :)
Like you, This update DID NOT apply to my machine.

Forgot to mention that after 2 weeks I tried to d/l the 10.7.3 combo updater, (the not mentioned 2nd build) I was greeted with a "checksum error" when trying to install it. (Not my router, and a fast Inet connection).

My only solution was to use SU, and it actually worked just fine this time around. To be really honest, I would love to skip many of these updates, but future updates seem to depend on keeping everything current...oh well, could always be worse!

After having basically no issues with my last 2 iMacs; (my current one is a 21.5" i5, mid 2011 model). I am feeling the same way that you do!

Now I dread it when SU runs!!! My only answer is to wait for a week or 2, before undertaking anything major update wise....Now when they mess with the firmware..... That gets me a bit nervous!!

Well then...

No... Apple has actually been known to keep pushing updates for old models for quite a few years. Many older macs can use Lion Internet Recovery for example, which required a firmware update.

Well then let's click our heals together for an EFI64 update from Apple for the Mac Pro 1,1 so it can run 10.8!

I highly doubt they will but Apple should release the new imacs with 6 core Ivy Bridge CPUs.
Then I would be impressed.
