I only experienced this after updating to 10.7.3 on my mid 2011 iMac and my late 2008 UMBP. This worked like a charm....iMac back to normal. Now when are they going to release a fix for the 2008 MBP???

Finally!

My iMac never got too bad, but it was still annoying to wait an extra 5 seconds before it would connect to the network.

Ouch

I found that this update caused some of my music applications to fail, specifically MOTU Digital Performer and the EastWest "Play" virtual instrument.

Fortunately, I make nightly backups, which is what is restoring right now.

Oh well...

Your machine was likely already broken, or broke for a completely unrelated cause. Look at the update in Pacifist, it hardly changes anything and does not touch anything that is related to those applications, at all...

This was my experience as well. I was dealing with the WiFi connectivity issue after updating to 10.7.3 on my iMac. This WiFi Update v1.0 did fix it for me, now my iMac is connecting to my network after waking up without issue.

Did NOT solve my issues. Might have to get an Airport Extreme perhaps.
FWIW, both my parents and I have Airport Extremes and were still affected by the WiFi issues since Lion's release. This update seems to have fixed it.
Good luck to you.

Have updated and still experiencing random drop-outs. Usually reconnects after 30 sec after clicking on the correct network in the list in the menu bar.

Anyone else still experiencing problems.

Is it more likely to be the router??

Yay! n.n so happy! This has bugged me for awhile!

Well, my MBP has had the same issue since updating from SL to Lion a couple weeks ago. It doesn't happen -every- time, but it happens enough to be a nuisance.

Yes, I filed this as a bug last year with Apple whilst I was Seed beta-testing 10.7.x for them (sent full hardware & software install and hang/crash logs) Now I'm testing newer stuff and haven't seen the same issues anymore on my MBP.

I've installed the update but it has made no difference.

My Mac still does not automatically hook up to my wifi. Doh. Any ideas?

EDIT: after going into Network preferences and clearing the list of all known wifi networks, it works. Thanks for the tip!

Mbp?

My MBP has had this problem on and off since purchase early last year.
Has anyone else noticed an improvement since last weeks firmware update?

As far as is known, the connectivity issue does not affect Broadcom wireless chips, rather only Atheros chips where the Atheros40 KEXT is used. (This KEXT was introduced by Apple to offer P2P (AirDrop) support to AR92xx and AR93xx cards that they use.)

For the connectivity issue that you are having, try clearing your known WiFi networks. Also ensure that the firmware on your router / access point is up-to-date and that you are getting good signal strength from it.

Other things to look at are:

What channel are you using? Are other routers / access points using the same channel? If so, change it.

Are you using WPA2 with CCMP (AES)? If not, can you switch to it? (Personal uses a PSK, Enterprise uses 802.1X)

Interestingly, my late 2007 imac has had this issue since I installed Lion. I have to manually click the upper right screen icon to connect to my wifi network. I hope this works for me.

Strange thing is, I wasn't suffering the issue that many had, perhaps because my wifi infrastructure is based on Apple kit, but I installed it anyway. It ran my internal HDD into a frantic state for about 10 minutes but settled back down.

Can't say I've noticed any difference, but hopefully it will fix the bugs that have been experienced by others. Cynics say that it was non Apple equipment that had the most of these issues, but I doubt it, I'm sure people with AEBS TC also had issues, I'm just lucky.

I occasionally experienced this with our iMac (27" late 2009) and we use an Apple TC for the wireless network.

It's nice they've fixed this, though it didn't affect us often and it isn't a big deal to reconnect manually.

I never had this issue on my mbp which I got a month or so ago, but was consistent on my iMac since day one no matter what router I used. It's much better now.

There was a similar issue involving the MacBook Airs, as well, correct? If so, I think that issue was fixed a long time ago. What took so long for this update?

Still broken on my 2011 MBA. Tried all the work arounds, firmware updates...still won't always automatically connect to my home network....very frustrating
