So, i am a very disappointed apple fanboy. I am stuck at 13.0. OTA does not work "Unable to check for update" so polluted my computer with the useless itunes, which wants to backup my phone with full of photos, but i dont have enough space on my laptop, so i cannot upgrade to 13.1 with itunes either. Is there a way to upgrade with itunes without backup? Thanks

Here's an issue I haven't seen reported here yet :

When attempting to scroll, if the place my finger touches happens to have a link "close" to it, instead of scrolling the page, the link is opened. This happens in Safari and other apps like CNN. I've tried being very careful and deliberate with my finger to make sure I'm not actually touching the link and I'm not; and yet, the link opens. It's pretty frustrating.

Anyone else have this happen?

The "software needs to be updated" thing refers to a plugin, not iTunes, and clicking "ok" downloads it. Or did you see a message specifically about itunes?

This is what I show:

Two separate things at play.

The "A software update is required to connect to your [iOS device]" message appears when the background frameworks iTunes uses to connect to devices needs to be updated for compatibility with a newer device.

Unfortunately, the message you see is because iTunes 12.6.x will not deliver an iOS 13 ipsw payload under any known circumstance thus far, and that is unlikely to change.

Apple put iTunes to bed with 12.9, and with 12.6 even further back in the rear view mirror, any sort of remaining compatibility with iOS 13 (it can't update, but is said to sync) is occuring by chance and wholly unsupported.

That’s what I thought. So I’d need an update to iTunes, which may not be possible due to being managed on an enterprise environment, or OTA. That severely hinders ADM managed upgrades.

Hmm.. if it can handle sync, I wonder if we could upgrade to 12.9 for the iOS 13 upgrade then drop back to 12.6 for ADM..

Yep.. this worked. Had to upgrade temporarily to iTunes 12.8.2 (last version supported for Sierra) on my Mac, then upgraded the phone through the full ipsw, then when all checked out including sync, downgraded back to iTunes 12.6.3. That keeps everything good for me for the time being.

Anyone know why some contacts get text messages and some get a link to the maps app when you share your ETA?

Anybody else having problems with their watch not wanting to talk to their phone?

Apple Watch 5 with watchOS 6, iPhone 11 pro max updated to 13.1 over 2hrs ago and that’s the last time my watch spoke to my phone (looking at the activity)...
??

Apple today released iOS and iPadOS 13.1, marking the first update to the iOS 13 operating system that launched in mid-September. The new iOS 13.1 update comes just days after the release of iOS 13 and coincides with the launch of new iPhones.

The iOS 13.1 update is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Apple started beta testing iOS 13.1 prior to when iOS 13 even launched, which was a surprise move as the company has never before released a point update for new software before when the software has come out.

Given Apple's early testing, it's no surprise that iOS 13.1 is coming not too long after iOS 13 became available for download. It's worth noting that iOS 13.1 is the first version of iOS 13 that's available for the 7th-generation iPod touch.

iOS 13.1 is an update that brings back several of the features that were removed during the iOS 13 beta testing. Shortcuts Automations, for example, are back.

With Automations in the Shortcuts app, you can create personal and home automations using the Shortcuts app to have certain actions performed when specific conditions occur. It's a powerful tool that adds a lot of utility to the Shortcuts app.

Share ETA, a feature removed during beta testing, lets users share their estimated time of arrival to a location with a friend or family member, allowing the friend or family member to follow along with the trip.

The volume indicator has been tweaked in iOS 13.1. If you have certain headphones or audio devices connected (AirPods, Powerbeats Pro, HomePod, and Beats headphones) there are special indicators that feature a unique icon that matches your listening device. There's also a special icon for when two headphones are connected to an iPhone or iPad.

The update brings the audio sharing feature introduced in iOS 13 to all Beats headphones with an H1 and W1 chip, expanding the feature from just the AirPods and Powerbeats Pro. Audio sharing, as the name suggests, allows multiple sets of headphones to be connected to a single iPhone.

HomeKit icons have been overhauled in iOS 13.1, with much more detailed, realistic designs. There are new Reading Goals options for PDF, a change to the Nike branding (it's no longer Nike+), and several other smaller tweaks outlined in our tidbits article.

Full release notes for the update are available below:

I was wondering when using CarPlay in the maps could ever go over to the Hubbard View

Still buggy as anything on iOS 13.1.2.

Apps crashing left right and centre - even the App Store and reminders in particular is broken. Netflix and WhatsApp crashing or hanging repeatedly too.

We’ve given up on reminders and switched to Microsoft ToDo, but migrating has been a pain - due in large part to Apple’s failure to provide a “delete completed reminders” feature. Currently migrating something like 30,000 reminders :(

Anyone know why when sharing eta some contacts can only receive a map notification and some receive a text notification?

Lot of apps still need to be updated for compatibility. Bizarre that Tunein Radio messes with the new system wide volume control, as it hangs around on screen for 2+ mins after pressing volume key restricting usability of the phone as not possible to use back button in emails, etc. as the volume controls has priority.

Plus apps like Waze don’t show the time from iPhone. Usual disadvantage of updating on release.
