Apple today released iOS 26.5.1, a minor update to iOS 26. The software is available three weeks after iOS 26.5 came out, and appears to only be available for the iPhone Air and all models in the iPhone 17 lineup.

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple's release notes, the update fixes a previously documented charging issue with iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models.
This update addresses an issue for a small number of users that may prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly drained.
Apple's work on iOS 26 is winding down as it prepares to introduce iOS 27 at the June 8 WWDC keynote event.

I'd like to know how that is calculated...I started the update and about 30 seconds later it said "preparing..." and where I am I'm pretty sure I did t download 27 GB over cellular that fast even if it's 5G.

I think more significant fixes will come with iOS 26.6, probably due early July 2026. That will likely be the second last iOS 26.x update before iOS 26.7 arrives in September as a "maintenance" version.

My update was just over 21.5GB on my 17 Pro Max but moved from downloading to preparing update pretty quickly…wild times at ol’ Apple. 😬

I experienced the charging bug a couple of times and always thought my cable or charger were faulty.
I’ve never had this bug as I don’t let my phone get below 30% if I can help it but I’ve plugged in my cable before and it didn’t charge I had to plug it back in for it to charge, only happened once though.
