It took me a few restarts to be able to see it pop up. This last time I checked it said my software was up to date but then below that it said “also available” and listed iOS 26. So I pressed that and am now updating to the release from today.
Hmm strange but I checked the build and it seems to be official release?

iOS 26.0 (23A340)

I have been stuck on 3 hours for iOS on iPhone 16 for the past two hours. Since I am on a DSL I drove to the nearby town that 5G ultra fast still stuck waiting I guess 514 mb is not enough
Yep jumped from 3 hours to preparing. The actual installing took about twenty minutes.

iPad Pro. Home Screen, tap to open a folder. Open an app from that folder. Now swipe up to close the app. The dock rises up from the bottom, then slides back off and disappears (when it realizes it’s showing a folder, not the top-level Home Screen). Gah!

Me. I like reading about others experiences, but don't want to mess with betas myself.

I'm probably hanging out on 18 until 26.1.
Even more so on iPadOS since the changes were much larger.

I do appreciate those who love to be on the bleeding edge bleeding on my behalf.

I'll be staying on Sonoma for a few more months too.

I have nothing positive to say about liquid glass.
This entire thing should be opt in, if you want it.
Just leave my devices alone.
Sadly reduce motion, reduce transparency and increase contrast don't do enough.

The darkened keyboard background, various icons with odd halo white corners, various apple icons that look like knockoffs of themselves, weird menu radiuses that don't match other radiuses, on/off toggles that now have to be pills that expand and animate beyond their physical size ... buttons that out of the blue have dirty shadows / halos .. like you have not washed your hands in ages???!!!

What in the world ???

I don't think I have ever been as disappointed with Apple's design choice, and that includes when they went anti skeuomorph, took color away and introduced grey text and icons on grey backgrounds.

Updated my 11 Pro Max. About 5.3 GB. Took about half an hour, after it came back up it was SUPER slow and laggy for about 5 minutes, then fine. Liquid Glass is...Interesting. I'm going to give it a fair shake but I have a feeling I might be turning reduce transparency on.

"Design"

I preordered an iphone 17 don't know if i should cancel and move to Android once and for all... Galaxy S26....
Do you need the rest of the Apple ecosystem? If not, then switch. I like my iPad though I don't use Apples software services. I like My M1 MacBook Air. PC laptops are all about Gaming, and I don't game.

My Desktop is Linux and my phone is Android with most of the bloatware stripped away. They are the best choices for me.

I updated my iPad 8 and I can honestly say I cannot tell much of a difference from iOS18. I have to say that is a relief because when the beta first came out it seemed like a mess. This just feels like a refinement of iOS.

How bad was it before. This is still a mess!

When I updated my Apple devices and saw liquid gla$$ everywhere, inconsistent transparency, white edges around icons, widgets, notifications...

Still getting used to the new appearance. I’m somewhat on the fence. The Liquid Glass effect is OK. Somehow the overall effect looks a bit cartoonish, garish. Some things look too heavy, thick. Considering the small size of the iPad display the lines and such should be thinner, more compact.

I notice this more when trying to use multiple windows. The rounded corners seem to take up extra space.

I can do without the springing icons.

I'm not sure I like liquid glass design. I may end up turning it off, if I get tired of it or it ends up costing me battery life.
