After seeing the announcement on MacRumors, took about 20 "check of update" clicks for it to finally work properly, but finally happening. 9 minutes remaining.

Downloading now in the UK. It says it will take approximately 5 hours!

I really hope it will speed up soon or this will be one very long night!

At least when it's done, my iPhone 4 will be near enough equivalent to the 4s.

Is there a way to get 5.0 to show up if I DON'T have have 4.3.5?
That's what keeps showing up for me, and I'm not sure if there's another button I can hit to check for updates.

Can I skip the 4.3.5 update, or will I need to update my iPad to that, then check for iOS5?

How do I get this if I have the beta? iTunes tells me I have the latest version... Which I do, but is the beta. :(

downloading in Boston. looks like its slowing down. first 20 secs showed 3min remaining but now I'm 25% into the download and it's showing 11 minutes remaining.

Build number?

edit: iTunes is telling me I have the current version. I assume GM was final.

No, that means nothing. iTunes only compares OS version not build numbers. Since it detects you have iOS 5 already it says you are up to date.

Do a restore.

Downloading now... :)

Took a few presses in iTunes to get it to start the update process however, at first it kept seeing 4.3.5 as up to date.

So keep trying peeps.

This really does the trick! Thanks!

2 Hours remaining though.... Ugh....

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am downloading the update.

haha!

(oh and it says 7 minutes and I'm in Saskatchewan!)

:)
