So does that mean iOS6.1 improved your wifi connection?
Or did iOS6.1 simply add a second bar to the same poor signal? Making you think it has a stronger connection

It's definitely stronger. I never had problems with my Macbook Air sitting next to the phone but the phone struggled to ever get a wifi connection and now it actually will load.

meanwhile Android is kicking it into higher gear with JellyBean and taking over the market.

Apple...stupid gimmicks like Siri isn't what the consumer wants...they want a more fluid and accessible OS.

iOS is dying fast...

Exactly!... this is why Apple has over 50% of the smart phone market!

oh wait.

I think the lack of new stuff in ios 6.1 is a good thing, hoping all focus is on ios 7 :)

Who buys a 16 GB phone? Rule of thumb, always buy the middle version of anything (not the smallest, nor the largest). That way you don't pay the most, nor pay the least. Pay the middle. All's good.

Popcorn at movie -- medium please. No I don't want to pay another $.25 for the large.

Horrible analogy. $100 increase + tax per tier of iphone (16/32/64) is much different than an extra $0.25.

Think of it this way.. $400 is enough for 2 upgrade lines and gettin 16GB iPhone 5's, or 1 64GB iPhone 5.

The increase cost to the manufacturer between a 16GB and a 64GB is very minimal. I personally think Apple needs to start making the devices standard with 32GB and then 64/128. Shoot, the new iPod is 32GB standard..

Sweet. So its worth the upgrade. I also noticed that swiping seems more 'fluid'.

I held off on updating to iOS 6 as long as I could because of bugs, and jailbreak, but then a month ago my 4S broke and when I got it replaced the replacement 4S was at iOS 6 already, and I couldn't downgrade. iOS 6.1 fixed a lot of those bugs, and since there's rumors that a jailbreak will be released on super bowl sunday, I now don't need to downgrade

Safari feels snapier ... totally worth it

Every update someone says that, yet, still funny

I'm waiting for people to say Apple Maps feels snappier instead of Safari

You need to calm down. You must be a wreck in person.

After your second or third post whining about point release version numbers, it's likely you're fantasizing a lot more excitement into my post. With that being said, honestly gotta tell you, I'm not super stoked that you're trying to imagine me in person.

I'm guessing you'd feel better if the version number .1 decimal had moved to the right? Is this something you're losing a lot of sleep over? What are you expecting for the iOS 6.1.1 release?

fix Bluetooth?

iOS 6 broke lots of Bluetooth functionality with audio systems (play/pause, MP3 tags, etc).

Does anyone know if this was fixed in 6.1?

The volume button on the lockscreen changes according to in what orientation you're holding the device. It's only on the lockscreen and not in the multitasking tray, as far as I can see.

whoa. that totally affects that gradient strip i mentioned, too.

Everything worked well for me, but when upgrading someone else's 4S for them, after downloading the update, it remained on "preparing for update" for about over 90 minutes, until I decided to do a hard reset. After that, about 10 minutes later or so, the update completed.

However, I feel uneasy about having done a hard reset during an OS upgrade. Even though everything appears fine, would it be wise to do a restore to the last backup or is everything likely fine? Thanks!

Hmmm... battery life does seem better. Usually I'm at 40% from 7.00am to 6.00pm on work days...

... today from 4.30am (when I unplugged it) to 4.47pm (now) it's at 57% and I've made a few calls more than I usually do (I don't usually call much at all on regular days), I've played around with the internet as normal (which is quite a bit) and I've had the music running while travelling ... and on Bluetooth too (I have Bluetooth on all the time).

Granted, I didn't use the school wifi today (was on 3G in school and occasional wifi hotspots while travelling).

Pretty neat.

...Look at the numbers and you'll see Android taking market away from dumbphones, not from iOS users.
100% agree with all your post and specially with this because they are migrating from dumbphones to Android just because they are "smart" but almost as cheap as the dumb ones and phone carriers gift them all.
Those who use Jellybean most probably are the geeks and people who knows what can really offer a smartphone and that's why their numbers are so "low" compared to gingerbread or froyo that are still in use despite the old and "basic" they are (no offense in here as I'm Android user too and differences between those versions are from day to night, like any other OS).
This situation do not happend in iOS because the system is almost rock solid from day 0, with a logical improve in features, not stability (in fact, old good version iOS 2 and 3 felt, if I may, even more stable than 6).
I guess what the people really complain is that Apple takes much time to release a simple minor update without hearing their users, as they tend to did in the past. iOS evolution is getting slower that competence, both in features and innovation. Even so, still is a FAR BETTER option than Android as today. Let's see tomorrow...

Nope.

Has anyone noticed the gradient strip below the lock screen player is off center? Its driving me insane.

Not until you said something....thanks.

Ah, interesting.

Music is definitely snappier. New Order's Blue Monday ran @ 131 bpm on previous versions, but now up to 133.5 bpm.

Worth the upgrade.

I'm not seeing this. Can you please explain exactly what you see and what you're doing to see it? I don't see any difference in the volume button when I rotate my phone.

I updated yesterday and my iPod still with the battery draining problem.

Then the problem wasn't likely the OS. Firmware perhaps, which if messed up rarely to never gets fixed by an update. User data is also a possible issue. Just like computers can have borked settings, preference files etc, so can the iDevices since they are basically little computers. Backup (I find too iCloud brings back less issues), restore it in recovery mode etc.

If its an older device its possible that you are just consuming the battery at this point and nothing will really improve it much. Only way to really know is to take it in for testing.
