I've have it installed since yesterday and overall performance, speed and WiFi is dramatically improved. I used to barely get 1 bar and in and out in my room, now I get a solid 2 bars of WiFi.

I agree with most that the update overall is pretty 'meh' but it makes me wonder if the team is being refocused under Ives to other areas and updates and this is just a general maintenance update in favor of moving resources to bigger changes and updates coming in iOS 7. Apple app updates are pretty much zero right now and such a small change here makes me think that teams are working on bigger things.

Are you on a iPhone 5? Im actually thinking to jailbreak my i5 aswell so the jailbreak and the increased system performance from iOS 6.1 makes it even better

Not bugged by it.... but never realized it before! You're right though.

It's not connected to the large gear in the back so not it's not going the wrong way. For all we know there are other gears off screen that it is turning.

I just did the update via wifi. Now I have a "1" on the Settings icon, a notification "1" and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. Anyone have any ideas?

Didn't your teacher ever tell you not to use wikipedia as a source? ;)

How about direct from Android.com
http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html

Of course the whole discussion of iOS revisions verses Android revisions is fairly pointless. There is nothing resembling a manufacturer supported upgrade from iOS4 to iOS6 on a two and a half year old device in the Android ecosystem.

The Android roadmap supports carriers' and device manufacturers' preferred approach to updates...scorched earth. As with their non-smart phones, you are welcome to get the latest and greatest revision of the Android OS as long as you can afford to replace your device and extend your contract.

6.1 shall go down in history as the Jailbreak release. Probably all it will be remembered for.

I do it for 2. Port 57 goes to port 22 on one, and port 56 goes to port 22 on another. It's more secure and less prone to spamming, too, because I'm not using standard ports. I had 22 going to 22 on my iMac before, and I saw a bunch of failed root logins from Taiwan.

When that starts happening over IPv6, I'll probably change it too. For now, it isn't. And even if they try, I use login keys and disable passwords, so they ain't getting in (modulo a vulnerability in ssh).

For everyone posting about wanting a jailbreak, is the jailbreak they are releasing for 6.1 or 6.0.3?

Should I run the update if I'm waiting for the jailbreak or just wait?

Just a tip: You shouldn't run your phone so full; you should have at least a few hundred megs free. Running a full phone can cause subtle problems and errors.

I suggest trimming it back a bit; find some apps you don't use to delete. :)

I usually have about 500MB free! Just today I've taken quite a few pictures!

Who buys a 16 GB phone? Rule of thumb, always buy the middle version of anything (not the smallest, nor the largest). That way you don't pay the most, nor pay the least. Pay the middle. All's good.

Popcorn at movie -- medium please. No I don't want to pay another $.25 for the large.

I was going to go for the 32GB model, but I got caught up in the rush trying to order the iPhone on the release minute! I've been okay with all the others though.

According to the iOS 6.1 info on Wikipedia... so far:

- Larger "Report a Problem" button in Maps
- New music controls on lock screen when you double-press home button
- Siri can now purchase movie tickets via Fandango (USA only)
- LTE now works with several European and American carriers
- Individual songs can once again be downloaded or deleted when using iTunes Match
- New, persistent Passbook pass explaining service functionality.
- The sample card within Passbook has been updated slightly for those in the United Kingdom, changing “movie tickets” to “cinema tickets” in the first sentence, and “theaters” to “cinemas” in the last sentence.
- Reset Advertising Identifier button now works.
- New cellular data option for iTunes.
- Voice Dial Only mode for Siri.
- When setting up an iOS device for the first time with iCloud, it will now ask you to confirm your Apple ID password for FaceTime and iMessages. It will also ask you to confirm how you’d like people to reach you, and tells you that you can change these settings at any time later on.
