First thing I've noticed on beta 3 is that the Maps app has taken a huge leap backwards and is not displaying any streets for me

What are the release notes going to say to stop anyone from installing?

*In this version nothing works. We have fixed no bugs since the last version, and in fact have made the battery life worse.

If you have Beta 2 it's a no brainer to upgrade regardless of what the release notes say.

ever hear the bitching and moaning when they disabled facetime last year... that's why I don't install until I have read the release notes. Also B2 is rock solid on my end.

I stand corrected, nice find though! :)

I had forgotten to add my 4S to my account while I was installing iOS6 b1 and was happy that it wasn't bricked! :D I added the UDID to my account post haste though so I won't know if laters betas have this same unlocked-ness.

Beta 3, this usually means it's pretty much ready, right? Usually?

While beta 2 fixed a big issue on my 3rd Gen iPad, I discovered many more issues while using it. I am happy to see beta 3 is here, but would not imply that third time's a charm.

At first my iPad 3 GSM showed beta 2 available so I rebooted as I'm already on that and now it just says my current IOS is up to date. I'm in the UK.

The iOS 6 Maps entry page on apple.ca explicitly refers to Siri, 3D views, and live updating. The screenshots also show what Maps do in the US, but the functions didn't work in Canada.

Turn by turn directions started working for me in Toronto on beta 2 this past weekend. I only got to try it driving around the GTA, but it worked pretty well.

For me it has been way more accurate showing my current location then Google was...

Thank god. The ability to turn off voice directions in navigation

Voice directions didn't work for me in beta 2 at all, so be grateful :p

Hrm. Here in St. John's it would show the directions, and update to the next turn as I arrived at it (which isn't very helpful), but I didn't get the GPS-like 3D view nor voice directions.

Edit: I take this back. It is now working on beta 2!

I reported a bunch of bugs -

1) Facetime incoming call bug - can't even answer the call because there is no answer button!

2) wifi issues - esp with VPN connectivity

3) Safari bug when loading certain web pages, it completely locks up. You can kill the app in the task switching tray but it will still crash until a restart

4) Email app; sometimes it will not load any email content even if connected to the internet.

5) the bug with the "no service"

6) a bug with the auto brightness in which is will go up but not back down in dim ambient lighting

7) and there are a few minor UI issues as well also reported.

Beta 2 is FAR from being great or good enough!

I reported a bunch as well but its still great. If you are expecting it to be bug free and are contributing greatness, in a beta stage, to bugs; you will never be satisfied.

Downloading as we speak!

Seems that the official release notes URL is unavailable...

maps app uses areal images from bing in germany now, much better quality than the previous really bad satellite photos

I was able to put beta 1 on a iPad 3 and 3GS without registering them. I tested some things and then put them back to 5.1.1. When beta 2 came out I put it on the same iPad 3 and an iPhone 4. I had to add the UDIDs to my dev account before they would initialize. If you took advantage of the unregistered loophole during the first if beta 1 I would recommend sticking with OTA updates and be prepared to revert back to 5.1.1 or pay a website to register your device.

As a side note, after reverting the 3GS back to 5.1.1 I had to delete it's iCloud backup before I could sync to iCloud again.

I had many apps hanging and crashing with my iPhone 4 with B2. To the point that I had to reboot about every 6 hours. I think it was a bunch of memory leaks. If I opened the new Podcast app i had to literally wait 30seconds before the UI was responding to touch. And the Music app would have a VERY long lag or just not respond at all.

It's almost done updating now.

Installed on iPad 3.. roads are showing for me, but the satellite maps are still terrible (for me in Nottingham at least) http://mby.me/vN

I'm in the UK too and have been really disappointed by our coverage although I'm downloading beta 3 now. We both know how ***** the weathers been this year so for apple to try and get a picture without cloud is trying to compete with apple without lawsuit.

My 4S is downloading beta 3 now through Software Update, I'll need to restore my iPad to beta 2 and upgrade that later. I found beta 2 a little sluggish on the new iPad, mainly using the gesture to pinch back to the home screen ... it stuttered too much for my liking at times.
