I think it looks worse on the 4 because it's missing a few of the gee whiz effects. Like animated wallpapers, the tilt effect on the icons, lacking the blurred layer effect.

I love the new functionality tho. Especially the block list

Hm, that stuff works on my 4S - is it only on the 4 and lower that the animated wallpaper, tilt effect, etc., is disabled?

I'm thinking about paying the developer fee to try this. I've been tiring of ios for a while, I jailbroke mine with my iphone 5, but haven't wanted to shell out more than I already have in the paid mods.

If anyone has spare developer registries, I'd be happy to test all of your apps in exchange for access to ios7.

anyone care to share what keyboard button is pressed with restore in iTunes on a PC when installing the ipsw file? its for a friend, honest:p

You don't need to pay to have a developer account.

Go to (i m z d l dot com slash ios dot php) and download the ipsw for your model of phone. I used the torrent, download speed was fast.

Make sure you have the latest iTunes installed on your computer.

Connect phone.

Backup.

On Windows- hold "shift" and click check for update. Navigate to the ipsw you just downloaded.

Wait for install.

Set up phone from backup, if it asks. Do not set up as new phone!

On Mac- hold "option" and click check for update.

Hold the shift key, and press check for update.

DO NOT CLICK "RESTORE"...YOU NEED TO CLICK CHECK FOR UPDATE, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INSTALL IOS 7 UNLESS YOU HAVE A PAID DEVELOPER'S ACCOUNT.

From the website I told about earlier, they tell you that you need to pay to register your UDID. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS.

Can someone post a couple of screen shots of the lock screen and the home screen with a different wallpaper? I want to see what it does to the icons.

My cousin asked me the same thing. I still have the images...

How funny in our text we are talking about the "Mavericks" name.......

If you want to know how to get iOS 7 beta email me @ KiiDTechnology@gmail.com
Don't need to be a developer or have your undid registered.. I have it on my iPhone 5 n love it!! Be aware the download takes FOREVER (about 2 hours) :/

I agree with a lot of your points. Similar to with what The Verge said: http://www.theverge.com/apple/2013/6/10/4416726/the-design-of-ios-7-simply-confusing

Personally, I find the UI "too flat" in a lot of areas, especially the buttons. The lack of depth makes it harder to distinguish certain aspects of the UI and I'm still stumbling with it a bit since yesterday afternoon. I think a good example is comparing the new Mail app to the iOS Gmail app. I used to think the Gmail app was too flat but it pales in comparison to the stock apps (Messages, Photos, Calender etc...).

Perhaps, I'll get used to it. The muscle memory hasn't developed for the icons and such. I do hope however, that Apple continues to add visual tweaks and consistency throughout ios 7. Even for a Beta 1, it seems a bit unpolished for Apple.

As for the icons, I'm not impressed by them but at the same time I don't hate them. I have been using winterboard themes since ios 3.x so the change isn't to drastic compared to some of the themes I've used. I like what downpour did with his/her mockup. This is what I expected when Apple said "flat". It's not as vibrant I supposed, but apple's icons just remind me of a blend of MIUI rom for Android and the Nokia N9.

BTW, I like the control center. The layout isn't perfect but close to what I had on my jailbroken phone with intelliscreenX and NC settings. But I guess that's just personal preference.

Notification center looks nicer but no major functional changes. Actionable notifications are past due.

App switching is a downgrade in functionality (4 to 3 icons) but looks nice visually. There have been card switchers in the jailbreak scene for a long time now and I never preferred them over simple list or icon switchers which are more efficient.

Overall, I'm left with the feeling that many of the changes are to combat critics that have dubbed iOS outdated and boring rather then innovation. Perhaps too much focus on UI changes, bright colors and flattening everything out. Beta 1, maybe they will prove me wrong.

Exactly. In your last paragraph you're hitting the nail. I believe Steve always followed his vision, but these guys are 'following' critics. And now we see the result.

Scott Forstall was fired for not apologizing for Maps issues, let's hope Cook and Ive have guts to recognize and fix their own mistakes (we won't hear any apologies I suppose).

Guys at the Verge are good, but it'd really help if someone with some weight like Woz would share his opinion.

Apple really rushed to remake and release it before WWDC, there's no yet iPad version and OS X Mavericks still has mentions of Mountain Lion.

PS I had the same thoughts about Gmail.

can anyone confirm that ''all-day events'' in the calendar, do not appear int he notification centre or lock screen?

Cheers

I've update a few more of the iOS icons. What do you think...

Very nice. I like the subtle touches you incorporated. Things like the toning down of the color background in the Messages app and the Weather app. I really like the new Settings icon as well. The only thing that I might do is add a bit of contrast to it - just a bit of "punch." The replacement of the outer circle in the iTunes and App store icons with the "down" arrow is also a nice touch. When viewing these 2 next to each other, you get a nice sense of a more toned down feel. Colors are not screaming at you with such saturation. Very nice.

P.S. I included a slightly more contrasted Settings icon in my revision of your revision.

Just a few posts up from yours is mine. I gave out the information already, where to get and how to install. This had been posted on this same thread but was deleted.

i m z d l dot com has the file, and it took me about 13 MINUTES to download it.

No need for anyone to email me or thank me as I'm just passing on information that was previously posted.

No problems for me. I'm on Sprint BTW, in case you may wonder.

How can I get this not being a developer?
Um, how can you get a car without paying? How can you get new shoes without paying?

Stealing.
It's not stealing if you don't rob the owner of their property.

The act is called copying, not stealing. The crime involved is called copyright violation, not theft.

In some places I preferred colour, everything being highlighted by black & white is confusing.

Also the new icons & the green colour for texts make the phone scene a little kiddish. Doesn't sell well to business customers. Its high time they start themes, even if its just 7-8 Apple made themes. Functionality improvements are welcome.

Man, I'm so tempted to install iOS7 on my iPhone 5... but I don't wanna lose my fast internet speeds, ability to send messages and make calls :(
