Really? This is for iOS devices only? Really? I thought there was this big deal about a new Apple Music app on the Mac..am I wrong? I don't care about iOS devices, I play all my music on my Mac and my Yamaha system with sub, it sounds great....I use iTunes for everything, apart from my records.

Dude lol itunes just hasn't updated yet. Later today iTunes 12.2 is coming out.

The updated iTunes just hasn't been released yet. Hold your horses, will probably be out soon.

You mean the curated playlists? Cause if by better you mean much smaller playlists, then yes...

lol as opposed to Spotify's best of Nirvana playlist where the user just throws whole albums in there in chronological order? You have a radio with unlimited skips if you want to listen to a lot of genre specific music use it

My iPad Air 2 freezes on the install. Called Apple Support and they say it's because the 8.4 update is still in Beta. Guess Apple support doesn't have access to the official release.

Update: Apple says there is a problem with the release.

For what its worth 8.4 Installed on my iPad Air 2 just fine. I had been running 8.4 Beta 4 previously and did the update OTA.

Because less choice to consumers is a good thing right?

It's good news to those who own stock in Apple and Google. If all the services provide about the same thing then too many choices just lead to market fragmentation. Although Pandora has done a pretty good job maintaining some profit on ad based free music, Spotify is in a different boat. They have to continue to convert free customers to paying customers. Once they enter into a negative spiral which is probably happening as we speak they won't be able to keep going.

I don't see the issue if your a true Apple fan. Hardcore Apple fans have always wanted Apple to dominate any market they enter. As far as competition goes Google will provide enough for them to keep providing a decent service.

Is anyone else getting unpredictable controls on the radio? Sometimes I have the menu and like button, other times it's greyed out.

I'm still not convinced that one radio station playing AC/DC to electronic music is the way to go. Hopefully the plan is to have more live stations for different genres.

So Pharrell William's Freedom isn't on Apple Music yet. Can't save it anywhere, can only start a station from it.

I found a crucial problem on Apple Music.

I realised when I press "Add to a Playlist" of a song I like on Apple Music and select an existing playlist I want to add to, it doesn't actually work.

To make it work, I have to "Make Available Offline" and then choose "Add to a Playlist".

This is kind of a problem because what happens if I don't want to make it available offline but want to stream a song from a playlist of mine. (Also that extra step and storage usage).
I was able to add a song to playlist w/o downloading.

Wow, I have not read through this thread, but this Apple Music is just a mess. Such a confusing layout! I've been using Google Music for a couple years now and that is so much more intuitive. I'm going to give it a fair shot, but first impressions are not good. Trying to find and play music is just awkward, the whole play next thing and trying to figure out what you're playing is just not good at all. I may be in a minority here though.
I too had been using Google Play Music for about the last 18 months and I have exactly the opposite reaction. This is so much more sensibly laid out, even if not perfect, than GPM. The past couple of GPM updates pretty much sealed my decision to switch to AM, actually. I find that there's way too much shifting back and forth between the menu and music, not to mention how often it crashes or has downloaded songs that have a skip in some part (I haven't had skipping music since the 90s with car CD players!)

We'll see who is right about this. There is no way a tiny money losing company like Spotify (or any of the other streamers) can compete. Apple and Google are gigantic and have the resources to ink exclusive deals plus with iOS and Android they already have their services built right into the devices. Not to mention the ability to dictate market wholesale pricing so they can get content at better prices then the small services.

I bet Spotify is bleeding paying customers at an alarming rate as I type this. It's always sort of fun to see Apple and Google take the little guys out. As for me I still have a $4.99 a month deal through Bose with Deezer, but when that is done I'll probably go with one of the big 2 because I'd hate to build up playlists and then one day not see it work anymore when the company goes broke.

You can call me melodramatic, but you too know the writing is on the wall for Spotify.

Ya I canceled my Spotify Premium yesterday, kinda felt like a bad breakup.
I like Spotify (loved), but I am not going to subscribe to 2 services.

Big Things for me:
Apple Music has a MUCH cheaper family rate.
It integrates into IOS so much better (not Spotify's fault or much they could do about that.)

Smaller things:
Apple Music has a slightly bigger music library. Hard to justify paying more for Spotify for less content.
Hey its free for 3 months.
All my music is back under Itunes umbrella. (Less fragmented)

Spotify, we had a good time together. I wish you all the best. We still be friends, right?

First impressions are good, except I told it I do NOT like Indie music (removed it from my list) and the first playlist it suggested was iTunes intro to Indie music haha. The second though was a DJ Sneak playlist so i'm letting it off for that alone.

Though this is all useless until it appears on my desktop which is where i listen 90% of the time. have I missed an iTunes update??
