I’ve been downloading this update for well over an hour now on a XR. Never had this happen before and my internet is quite speedy.

Had same problem for first time ever here as well. I just shut wifi off, turned it back on, and bam it downloaded it normal speed. (FIOS here). It was saying 47 mins, after 15 mins, it said 19 mins then jumped to over an hour and sat there for awhile. Finally killed wifi, turned it back on, bam it downloaded it near instantly. :/

For the record, I never had mail issues with iOS 13 either. I suspect it's people with a very specific mail configuration or provider who are having the problems.

A lot of the issues are with Exchange. Something that worked 100% rock stable for many iOS versions, and which is so broken now that after so many iterations a lot of the issues are still not fixed. It's really an embarrassment for the Apple Mail dev team.

"This is because there are international regulatory requirements that mandate the U1 chip be disabled in certain locations."

hmm....

Apple may not of had that problem with Location Services, but the saying could still apply, like it is for the U1. No one would need to go this far to regulate disabling the chip, if Apple never allowed tracking with it OFF in the first place.

It's a cover up.. Sounds like one.

No, but to me, it doesn't solve the problem.. Its only a workaround. It makes it all legal like if it must be something you have to disable, but the important question which would raise is "WHY does it need to be disabled if it doesn't harm anyone?

That seems to be the opposite effect from what Apple chose to do. You don't put chips in devices with the sole purpose to keep them disabled, unless here is regulations in place..

In this case, it looks like there is more to that,

"Apple added this location toggle after it was discovered that the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max continue to track user location even when location services options are disabled."

It must be two separate options ?

When i say "it's cover up" i mean rather than incorporate it into location services option, they just added a secondary option because location services didn't turn off U1 as well... Well, of course it doesn't it you never add that

Also released today by Apple is iOS 12.4.5 for older iPads and other iToys. Thanks Apple!

Yup, already installed in my 5S. Kudos to Apple for keeping those old but trusty (and still capable) devices updated with security patches..

Now, turning the attention to my SE.. 😛 Installation happened pretty quickly.. I'll have to wait for a day or two, to be sure everything is actually ok..

Apple may have wanted to keep the function of the U1 chip separated from Location Services to be able to track locations even if Location Services was turned off. Just a guess here.

Hopefully I stop getting notifications to log into my Father's account. I backed his phone up to my PC back on iOS 11, and ever since going to 13 it's been doing this. I've checked and deleted any common apps then reinstalled, to no avail. I'd like to avoid a new start if possible.

Check not just apps, but any films, tv or music that may be registered under his account.

I have the same problems everybody else is posting about and only have one email account. It’s an iCloud account.
