Photostream is a part of iCloud, which does require Lion.

It's annoying that Apple created an iCloud control panel app for Windows Vista and Windows 7, but they seem to be limiting iCloud for OS X users to Lion only. Since Lion leaves out first gen Intel machines, that leaves out what I imagine would be a good portion of users that would otherwise upgrade to the latest OS.

this is ridiculous, iPhoto came preloaded on my mac version 9.1.5 and it won't let me update to 9.2. Its telling me that i need to purchase it from the app store for 14$ BS BS BS!!!

Try updating from Software Update instead of the Mac App Store.

Anyway, is iPhoto usable yet?

Got the same issue as TOMIMOT. Appstore showing the update as available but when I try to install it's asking for me to buy it! tried downloading from the Software Update site and I get the following Alert:

"The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available"

Isn't 9.2 a free update?

Cheers, A

I have 9.1.5 on my new mac, software update is showing everything is up to date. When I go to the app store it says it is installed. I think I will just leave it and deal with all the other minor dramas this update has caused me before I start chasing up the iPhoto anyway.

Right, just spent 45 minutes on the 'phone to Apple Helpdesk (they are quite busy today...). When I go to Appstore and click on the 'Purchased' tab none of the iLife apps show in there and they should (apparently).

I bought this MacBook Pro with Lion (and all the iLife apps) already installed so it may well be the case that there are many in this situation...

The guy tried the usual switching off and on, logging out of appstore etc and re-inputting my Apple ID to no avail then said that the 'solution' may be to re-install the whole Operations Systems etc from scratch!!

As I intimate above, there are a lot of people in the same boat (on both sides of the Atlantic)at the moment so someone must be looking at this... He is going to phone Apple Engineering and then call me back..

If I'm honest, I think I'd rather pay the £10 for the app again rather than doing a 'factory reset' (perhaps that's what they're banking on!!).

I'll keep you posted...
Cheers, A.

I have an old Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro that has been updated to OS X Lion 10.7.1 - it currently has iPhoto 9.1.5 installed

when I run Software Update, there's no iPhoto 9.2 listed in the available updates (only the OS X 10.7.2 update and Lion Recovery update).

Meanwhile on my much newer iMac running 10.6.8, I ran Software Update, and the iPhoto 9.2 update was available. I updated to 9.2 successfully on that iMac.

but why can't I see the update for it on my Lion MBP ?

this is clearly an issue apple did not foresee therefore they should not be taking extra days off for thanksgiving and work on it!

trouble down under

I am having the same problem. I have every thing loaded even 10.7.2
I go to iPhoto and try and update there it says that 9.1.5 is the latest version
I go to the app store and there is not updates.
I really don't want to go through some of the hell of the last couple of days getting everything iPhone and 10.7.2 talking and going the way I want it to, so I can go it all over again. On the hope that it will fix iPhoto, maybe. Hopefully they come up with a better solution than turn it off and then on again oohhh and reinstall you OS  I want photo stream but not that bad. lol

If it follows the same pattern as my MBP then you'll need to update to Lion 10.7.2 before the iPhoto 9.2 update shows as available (that's when my problems started...).

cheers, A.

I updated to 10.7.2 and confirm that yes, now iPhoto 9.2 shows up in Software Update.
