Hmm, interesting. Well here's hoping they fix this soon. I have a feeling 7.1, when it comes out, will be a pretty nice update for everyone.

Yeah that is bugging me seeing as my phone is my primary music player throughout the day. Another issue is app icons randomly stay "grey" or dimmed as though they are selected when I exit out of them. Go back to normal by selecting them again and it's not a functional issue, but it's just tacky nonsense I have not come to expect in either iOS or OSX.

I just updated and I can confirm it no longer hangs up on me when I update my iphone 5 after synching. I thought I was the only one that was happening to I would synch and then it would hang in the status bar like it was still synching when it was really done, SO HAPPY that is fixed.

Now Apple fix the Music App so I can upgrade to ios7 otherwise I'm staying on ios6, it's the only thing holding me back.

.
Apple won't hire programmers unless they graduated from high-faluting universities. I applied for Apple jobs several times and never got any reply that they even received my application. I expect these "superstars" to do a much better job than what I've suffered through with iTunes 11 and iOS 7.

They also expect their employees to work crazy hours and ignore their families. It's well paid, but brutal work.

iTunes 11 is really annoying - it's the first time I've ever had trouble with iTunes since I started using it.

Maybe they should hire some better QA people instead of just more programmers.

Did they bring back the feature to sync your contacts, calendars, etc. through USB and iTunes?? I hope they did. Stupid that they removed it.

Hey I downloaded Mavericks and they "forced" iTunes 11 on me. I did not want it I do not like it. Can you have nothing but text view? I do not like the gaudy album covers on the side I would like the old text look, and I do not want the stupid little window on top just text look. That's not fast and efficient to find things. The old way was the nicest for my needs. Just curious if i have to see album covers all the time. Less scrolling and see way more artists at a glance. Plus the lack of eye sore mini album covers would be very very very nice. Looks like it was made for children.

Not for me, it didn't. My iPhone 5S gave me a -50 error when I first tried to sync using iTunes 11.1.3, so I power-cycled it. This time, I've been sitting on the "Waiting for items to copy" for about 10 minutes now.

Your new problem doesn't sound like an example of the "finishing sync" problem. It sounds like a new or different synching problem.

11.1.3 "fixed" my iTunes problem

I have a fairly large library of music library (>2500 albums) and every time I changed from the Albums display to either Songs or one of the other tabs and then back to the Albums tab, iTunes would put up the spinning ball for about 10 seconds while it rebuilt the status bar. If I turned off the status bar everything worked fine. I even took my Mac to the Apple Genius bar and they could not determine why this was occurring. I rebuilt the "iTunes Library.itl" and the "iTunes Music Library.xml" files. Rebuilt the Album Art directories and removed the plists. None of those fixed the problem. All of the hardware checked OK and there was plenty of cpu, memory, and disk speed was OK. Turning off the status bar "hid" the problem. Installing 11.1.3 fixed this problem for me. :)

I tell you what bugs me about iTunes.
When in the music store and you search for and artist and their profile comes up then you click on the "all albums" to view all their albums...then you see all there albums...so you click on one of their albums to see all the songs and preview some...then you hit the back arrow to go back to their list of "all albums" (which was essentially the last page you looked at showing all their albums) BUT instead of taking you back to that it takes you all the way back to the artist profile page showing you songs, albums, videos etc..

That really bugs me because if I hit back arrow one time I want to go back to the albums page I was on not all the way back to the profile. Argh!!

I had really hoped the Cocoa rewrite would have brought speed and a new elegant UI. When it used to be just for songs, it was amazing. These days it's just a mess. iTunes is a pig and has outlived its usefulness for media management. Apple, please gut it an start over.

A pig? How ANCIENT must your Mac be? It doesn't work with PPC anymore so it can't be too old. It runs just fine here. The problem is they borked part of the interface with the new version. The old version was just fine. List for music, cover flow for movies (so you get a concise small list to browse quickly through but large artwork when you select a movie). If the new version would just show the grid mode's album information when you select a movie in the list, it would be fine, but as-is, it now sucks. At least music artwork is back as an option. But they moved the repeat setup to only when it's playing and the playlists no longer remember the repeat setting used on them last (e.g. I want night sounds for sleeping to repeat only one over and over so I get the same sounds all night, but I obviously don't want that mode for general music or I get the same music track over and over. And you can't even change the setting (except from the menu bar) until AFTER you start playing a track. It used to be at the bottom of the screen and playlists remembered their settings....

I do like the artwork mini-display mode. It lets you see the album cover fairly large while playing. Now THAT is an improvement. Too bad not all the features are improvements.

But this idea that iTunes needs to be separated into distinct apps for music, movies, books, etc. to streamline the interface....no way. I LIKE have all *MEDIA* managed by ONE program. Otherwise, I have to start up all these separate programs just to view a music video versus a music only track versus a home video, etc. Media is media. It just needs compartmentalized options and a memory for the layout/settings you like. It wouldn't be hard to fix it. Unfortunately, the art/layout guys at Apple seem to be color blind (Crayons! Crayons! Crayons! Ugh!) lately (well at least they brought color BACK to iTunes instead of Steve's dreary greyscale layout) but I generally think the look of iOS7 (which won't even run on a 4th gen iPod Touch, only a 5th Gen one because it's such a massive PIG of an OS) is just terrible. iOS should be more efficient, not ultra-bulky. That's a Windows thing. Sadly, it seems gaging by the looks/features of Apple products lately, they seem to want to imitate a company that has been imitating them (badly) for a long time. I don't need a horrible Windows8 interface next....

I'm not knocking you, but backups would have helped. Time Machine is great. Even exporting your Playlists now and then is a good idea. Could have been prevented...

Well I did and do have backups of iPhone all over the place and of PC (images). Not worth restoring just over a few playlists. But the point was to the poster that made the comment that it would wipe out all your stuff (joking) but in fact it did! Just been clear that iTunes has been buggy as hell since ver 11 with sync issues mainly and that's pretty sad for a music application. Just sayin.

But yeah backups are your friend and I have several revisions all over the place. Several in iTunes, iCloud and pc images on external drive. :)

Had iTunes crash 3 times today, for the first time in a long time. Twice, my iPhone ejected itself. Once, it wouldn't load the Photos section while syncing my iPhone. Luckily, no data loss.

The update fixed everything today, though. It then promptly synced some old iBook files I hadn't had synced in a long time. :p Oh boy...
